Filipinos love that color purple 😜💜🇵🇭 Thanks to the folks at @philippinesfest for taking my family and friends out to our inaugural UBELAND. Inaugural?! Spoke to Augee (@igorotchef ) and VJ, who started a collective group of food vendors 5 years ago which has now turned into this massive block party now known as Philippines Fest. VJ took us around to have us try out a handful of vendors serving up bold renditions of ube flavored items and other Filipino classics like: Halo-halo with ube halaya by @kapamilyafoodtruck_6910 Lechon kawali by @patokbyrach Buko Pan-Dayumm cookies by @salamatcookies Ube Tres Leches Cake by @four_treats Ube and Adobo Paella by @tiopaella Adobo Fries with an Ube Aioli by @homefrite Ube Spam and Lumpia Musubi @japayukinyc My favorite part? Seeing the amount of support that Filipino culture is getting in the streets of New York City. From the hour and a half long lines for isaw, kikiam and other street food to bumper to bumper foot traffic in this sea of purple, It’s a true signal of the need to push for Filipino culture and its flavors on the global stage. Philippines Fest is having another festival on May 9 called "KOPINO" where they marry the two cultures of Filipino and Korean together to produce even more delicious flavors that are sure to bring out the crowds.
