Mon avril. 💙💙💙

In Hilda Palafox (@poni )’s latest exhibition at @seankellygallery , monumental figures bend, kneel, and press their bodies close to the ground, directing attention toward the fragile life held within cracked soil. Mineral reds, ochres, and dense earthen browns bind flesh to terrain, creating a field of heat that moves through the space. Read our full exhibition review via link in bio. 📷 @fabianml

This is the last week to visit ‘De Tierra y Susurros’ at @seankellygallery , New York. Gracias Thomas, Sean, Cecile, Lauren, Jeffrey and the entire team at the gallery for making this experience so incredibly meaningful for me. And thank you to everyone who came, whether you joined us on opening night, visited quietly over these past six weeks, shared beautiful images, tagged the exhibition, wrote about it, asked questions, or simply spent time with the work. Every gesture of presence and curiosity, has meant more than I can express. The exhibition remains on view through Saturday, February 21. 🤎 Installation views by Jason Wyche, courtesy of Sean Kelly Gallery.

HILDA PALAFOX / @poni Hilda Palafox is a visual artist whose practice unfolds as an inquiry into subjectivity, the body, and women’s experiences, approaching identity through the tension between intimacy and monumentality: between the configuration of an inner world that privileges sensitivity and human connection, and the public projection of formal and symbolic grandeur.

There is a primordial energy, both telluric and feminine, that animates Hilda Palafox’s (@poni ) latest body of work, at once of the physical earth and of Mother Earth. On view at @seankellygallery , this group of paintings evokes a power rooted in ecology, the body and cyclical processes, historically associated with fertility, creation and an intuitive, symbiotic sense of care—forms of relational and reparative knowledge opposed to subjugation, exploitation and control. Observer connected with Palafox just after the opening to discuss the influences and iconography behind the exhibition, ecofeminist thinking and addressing themes of destruction and regeneration. Read more by @elisartgal at the link in our bio
