Walking through the Ho Chi Minh Museum of Fine Arts in Hanoi, I found myself looking down just as much as I looked at the walls. The floors are covered in these beautiful vintage geometric tiles. The main pattern is a bold starburst design that uses repeating dark grey, off-white, and warm terracotta orange shapes to create a truly hypnotic rhythm across the entire room.
What makes these tiles so special is how perfectly they lock together. Each individual square tile holds only a piece of the puzzle, but when they are laid side-by-side, they form a massive, elegant grid. The precise lines and sharp angles of the geometry make the floor feel structured and strong, while the soft, earthy colors keep the space feeling historic and welcoming.
It is a great reminder that great design is always underfoot if we remember to look. These old tiles have been walked on for decades, yet the precision of the patterns and the richness of the colors are just as striking today. It is a beautiful example of functional art that still speaks to us generations later.
