At a time when the top five richest men in the world are all media executives who can determine what we read, see, and hear, it is important to create technology that is truly relational and community-driven.
In a cooperative economy, we control our data and mediate our relationships.
Pollinator participant spotlight: Mowaffag Elsadig is a Sudanese visual artist, researcher, and archivist based in the UAE. His work takes the form of painting, drawing, and installation, and his practice sheds light on things that are not celebrated enough, or not taken care of well. He also explores the intersections of remembering and forgetting, and the trees around us which, while often treated as inanimate objects, he sees as metamorphosizing figures from a previous life.
Our spring Pollinator program begins on Friday!
With over 400 cohorts and 3,500 participants, our May cycle will convene interdisciplinary practitioners across art, design, technology, and social impact to connect in small groups and build mutual support.
If youโre an enrolled participant, your first meeting is this Friday! If you are the facilitator, there is a script, and back-up facilitator to support. Test the video interface we made from scratch and review the script embedded in the video at http://pollinator.coop/login
Not enrolled? Stay tuned for future opportunities โ we would love to connect with you soon ๐

Cohortsโwith other students, fellows, teammates, and beyondโhave led each of us to greater self-awareness and transformation, and to opportunities, collaborations, jobs, friendships, and a wider appreciation of the world.
Participants in our May program can now sign in at pollinator.coop/login to see the cohort weโve matched you with.
What does it mean to make โartist-designed tech?โ At Pollinator, it means we build (and test, and change) things to work as well as possible for our community. It means we prioritize accessibility, inclusion, and relational repair within the product itself, and not as an add-on. It means we donโt take VC funding, and we donโt sell or share your data. It means we are literally building this thing for you, and with you.

One more week to invite friends, alumni, collectives, membership to five weeks of roundtable discussions with aligned peers.
๐
We say that Pollinator is "by and for artists" because it's the truth
Our technology builds on ideas that our co-founder @carolinewoolard has been pursuing for years: collectivity, mutual support, and coalition building for greater resilience
At age 30, Caroline was the youngest person invited to give the annual E.F. Schumacher Lecture at the Schumacher Center for New Economics @schumacher_center
In this clip from 12 years ago (!), Caroline is speaking about dreams that are coming alive today with Pollinator ๐๐๐
Pollinator meetings use prompts to structure conversation. Each participant takes a turn sharing a response to a given prompt in rounds. Then, each participant will take a turn listening for commonalities between responses, and reflecting what they heard from the group in roundsโall without giving advice, making judgements, or practicing critique. This structure aims to support connection between peers.
By listening and keeping an open mind, we hope youโll become curious about all participants in your cohort. You might even be surprised by which participants you end up staying in touch with, well after the Pollinator cycle ends.
๐Reminder: 19 Days Left for Enrollment--Participants have until April 6 to enroll in Pollinator's May cycle for free!๐ผ

After our 2025 pilot, nine out of ten participants said our program helped expand and deepen their network. Many shared other ways the experience benefited themโcreative breakthroughs, new collaborative projects, invitations to solo exhibitions, and more.
The commitment is five 90-minute virtual roundtable discussions on Fridays in May + the first Friday in June, and enrollment is open now through April 6!

Mary Rozzi is an Italian-American photographer, director, and founder of The September Issues, whose practice spans more than three decades across New York, Paris, London and Los Angeles. Her work moves fluidly between fashion, portraiture, and fine art, examining how women and the body are adorned, revealed, and represented. Mary participated in the Pollinator pilot with an invite from For Freedoms and shared this about her experience:
โThere was a lot of synergy in our circle in the sense that we are all experiencing very similar difficulties of sustainability, career trajectory and what we feel is expected of an artist, and how we can break those codes and find new pathways forward.โ
