We just celebrated our first birthday at CM and PoV, and we’re overflowing with gratitude! For those just joining us, welcome! đŸ«¶đŸ» We are a cafĂ©, gallery, and bookshop located in Fort Worth, Texas. We’re proud to be a WOC-owned small business and operate with a values-first approach in everything we do. This looks like partnering with brands who prioritize ethical practices, are socially driven, non-racist, and inclusive. We hope that the essence of our work is felt by everyone who walk into our space. At CafĂ© Momento, we meticulously curate our offerings, selecting from hundreds of brands and small-batch purveyors who prioritize sustainability and ethical production. We taste, we sample, we research, we create meaningful relationships, and we taste again all to ensure that every product we serve not only stands out on its own but also represents amazing small businesses. At Point of View we offer a casual yet refined approach to art appreciation and collecting, as well as highlight independent publishers and authors on our shelves. We showcase artists and stories that challenge perspectives and act as a liaison between artists, authors, and individuals by offering a safe space for open dialogue.  We stand with our LGBTQIA+ friends and community, we do not tolerate hate speech or racism, and believe that Black Lives Matter. Our space is for everyone. Over the past year, our space has evolved into more than just a cafĂ©, art gallery, and bookshop—it’s a place where stories are shared and genuine connections are made. Thank you for supporting our dream over the past year. Here’s to many more shared moments ahead!

Continuing our series where we introduce you to the people who make up our shop culture and book curation 🌀 Meet Jeanette ✶đ“Č֌꩜ .ᐟ ✶đ“Č֌꩜✶ If you’ve ever picked up a niche title from the shop, chances are (I)Jeanette picked it out haha. Some of you might know, but I have a background in graphic design and visual communication, so every time I step into Point of View I feel like I’m a kid in a candy store. I seriously have to stop myself from buying every art book and on top of that, like most designers, I do judge a book by its cover and its page layouts ;-) I think what’s cool and special about collecting a new book is the story that lead you to it. If you were to look through my library I could tell you the exact context of when I bought it or who gifted it to me. So I hope when you find a book to take home from our shop you not only leave with a beautiful read but a memorable moment to savor when you glance at it in your space. Ask me anything about our niche art books, I might be able to tell you more about the designers or fonts in the book than the actual contents LOL. When I’m not doing shop things I love to hit up a good antique store or new gallery openings, give me your antique shop recs in the comments 👀💙 A note from Jeanette’s book currently on display: Sifting through the pages of Graphic Design For Fashion made me feel excited in a way I hadn’t experienced through a book before. It was less about the contents that were inside of the book rather, the texture of the paper, the groves on the cover from the embossed title, and the stunning editorial design. At that point in my design college career I was unsure of what field wanted to dive deeper into and this book was truly the point where I fell in love with print and publication design. Fun fact: this book was ALWAYS checked out at our library, literally students would fight for this copy so I feel extra lucky that it somehow ended up with meee đŸ™‚â€â†”ïž

A peek at some of our new and current zines + magazines! Forbidden Fruit + Steak Welcome back @cake_zine ! When we first opened in 2023 we stocked their Tough Cookie Issue, and so excited to have them back on our shelves! This time showcasing their Forbidden Fruit and Steak editions! If you’re into pop-culture and food these are for you!!!! Signs and Artifacts Collection In this series @secret_riso_club documents signs and graphic artifacts found in cities from around the world highlighting each place’s cultural identities. Isolating signs in different context allows the viewer to understand and observe and connect with a city that could soon be buried by gentrification. If we had to choose a favorite it’d be the CDMX edition obvi bc we 💙 @cancanpress + SRC!! El Mago Published by Kiosk in collaboration with @uoqaus This one’s extra special to us, we’re happy to have Isaac’s work return to our shop in print form this time in collaboration with @kiosk.chi from Chicago! Isaac was one of the first artist we hosted in our gallery! Through eight printed images, El Mago traces uoqaus’s journey through the universe, using Salvadoran imagery and identity to explore questions of faith and existence. Held together by organic cotton string hand spun by @donde_clara in CDMX. Brutus Casa Utsuwa by Nigo edition @nigo is a legendary Japanese fashion designer (what y’all know about BAPE??) and music producer. In this issue @casabrutus takes a closer look into one of Nigo’s decade-long passions for Japanese tea bowls. It showcases Nigo’s personal pottery creations, his curated collection of masterpieces, and his admiration for legendary potter Kawakita Handeishi.

If you’ve been by the shop recently, you may have noticed the gallery feels a little different. In this new interactive installation, we’re gently pulling back the curtain, introducing the humans behind the culture and curation at Point of View. Each of us has placed a book from our personal collection alongside titles from the shop, extending the conversation and offering something you can take home with you. Meet @kamijanderson đŸȘĄđŸŒŸđŸ“šđŸŽ If you’ve stopped in lately, you’ve probably noticed someone (very cute) missing from behind the @cafe.momento__ bar. That’s because last month, Kami stepped fully into the Point of View side as our first official bookseller. Since the early days of the shop, she’s been guiding us toward incredible authors and Pulitzer Prize titles. Now she’s helping us deepen our novel curation and add her flare to our literary voice. When she’s not lounging out in her backyard with a book, she’s usually at her Juki, piecing together something new for her closet. Ask her about her signature star charms and denim bags from her brand, @horsecharm_ <3 A note from Kami’s book currently on display: I inherited several handmade quilts from my great-grandmother, each stitched from worn clothing—my favorite made from a hand-pieced panel of old denim. Unconventional & Unexpected: American Quilts Below the Radar reflects on how women’s art and design have so often been dismissed as “craft,” yet remain deeply tied to systems of visual expression, storytelling, and quiet innovation. As a sewist drawn to the lineage of women’s textile practices, this book reminds me that textiles are not only functional objects, but carriers of cultural, political, and personal meaning. You can shop Kami’s selects through our Bookshop.org link!
