Nested Ontologies #3 Day 3 of the collaboration with @pocko  and @pocko_japan Throughout this week I’m releasing a new work each day, today continuing with Nested Ontologies, featuring music by @synthmage.jace . Nested Ontologies examines how reality forms through layers upon layers of interconnected systems. Simple underlying structures give rise to increasingly complex behaviours and forms, where shifts at one level ripple upward and reshape everything built above it. Biological, computational, and physical processes become intertwined, emerging from foundations that continuously influence the layers they support. Through generative art and moving image, the work traces evolving networks of structure and transformation, creating systems that appear simultaneously organic and synthetic, ordered and alive. #generativeart #digitalart #movingimage #artscience exhibitions

Nested Ontologies investigates the concept of supervenience: the way complex forms and behaviours emerge from, and remain dependent on, underlying structures, where subtle shifts at one level can transform everything above it. Takeover day 5 👋 @EmmanuelRomeuf x @Pocko After working with moving images, I wanted to explore something else: sports. Because it’s at the heart of my practice. I play tennis, I surf, and these two disciplines directly shape the way I create. 🎾🏄 In tennis, it’s all about timing. Finding the right moment. The perfect point of impact. You aim for a precise yet relaxed movement. It’s the same in an image: too much control and it freezes; too little and it falls apart. Precision arises in that middle ground. In that state of flow where the movement precedes the thought. Surfing tells the opposite story. It’s about letting go of control. You read and anticipate, but the wave decides. It’s a discipline of instinct and surrender. In my work, that becomes a strength: embracing the unexpected, letting the unplanned emerge. Some ideas arrive like waves, without warning. Sports are my parallel workshop. A space where the body thinks, and where ideas take shape differently. And you, what fuels your practice? 🌱 — 🇯🇵👋 動画制作に携わった後、私は別の分野、つまりスポーツに挑戦したいと思いました。なぜなら、スポーツは私の創作活動の核心にあるからです。 私はテニスとサーフィンをしていますが、この2つのスポーツが、私の創作スタイルに直接的な影響を与えています。🎾🏄 テニスにおいて重要なのは、タイミングです。絶妙な瞬間を見極めること。完璧なインパクトの瞬間。正確でありながらリラックスした動きを目指します。それは映像制作においても同じです。コントロールしすぎると動きが固まり、少なすぎるとバラバラになってしまいます。その中間にこそ、正確さが生まれます。思考よりも先に動きが先行する、あの「フロー」の状態において。 サーフィンは正反対の物語を語ります。そこではコントロールを手放すことが求められます。波を読み、予測はしますが、決めるのは波そのものです。それは直感と身を委ねることを重んじる世界です。私の仕事において、それは強みとなります。予期せぬ出来事を受け入れ、計画外のものを現れさせること。あるアイデアは、まるで波のように、予告なしにやってくるのです。 スポーツは私にとって、もう一つのアトリエのような場所です。身体が思考し、アイデアが異なる形で形作られる空間。あなたにとって、創作の原動力は何ですか？ 🌱 #pocko #pockojapan #emmanuelromeuf #illustration #animation
