Shirt made for Louise (@lulusandhaus ) as part of my residency with @taftgardens ! Louise is an incredible graphic designer and artist, and was one of my fellow artist-in-residence. I was fortunate to move into the Protea studio right after her. She left me a row of beautiful dried specimens to discover, including the little millipede used in this design! He sort of became the mascot for my Taft project. She gave me a great tee of hers (30% hemp!) to upcycle. Thank you to everyone who participated in this project! I'm happy that at this point these creations are now with their owners.

Shirt made for @jpegmountain as part of my residency at @taftgardens ! For my residency, I asked folks to give me a well-loved garment of theirs to transform, and I was so happy that Cassandra gave me a shirt. This residency wouldn't exist without her vision and tireless support. I came up with the idea to integrate the memorable instructions to Taft that all visitors receive, into a Candyland-esque gameboard design. I finished it off with a banksia leaf specimen acquired when she carted me around the gardens for an impromptu tour. This shirt and more will be on display again one more time on May 10th at the gardens for their rescheduled daytime event ( there is a waitlists for tickets!) Shirt made for @annetteheully as part of my residency at @taftgardens ! For my residency, I asked folks to give me a well-loved garment of theirs to transform, and I loved this vintage blouse Annette (fellow artist in residence and super talented fiber artist!) gave me to play around with. It presented some challenges with the dye process which pushed me to experiment with some bold color blocking, which I think turned out really cool in the end! Shirt made for @eliot_spaulding as part of my residency at @taftgardens ! Eliot is the 9-month artist in residence at Taft, and much of her work is beautiful explorations into the many trees and bark textures on the property. For my residency, I asked folks to give me a well-loved garment of theirs to transform, and in true Eliot fashion, I had fun creating a collage of bark textures for her shirt (including from a specimen of "desert lace" that she gave me!) For my residency, I asked folks to give me a well-loved garment of theirs to transform, and I loved how the pockets and stitching here created a unique grid to play around with, creating fun opportunities for little pops of texture, specimens, and a few faded landcapes. Belated New Year's recap of my Nov/Dec residency @taftgardens ! My residency started literally the day after the election, which seemed like unfortunate timing initially,  but I think having an obligation to go out and literally "touch grass" in such a gorgeous, tranquil setting was the best possible scenario for processing and re-orienting myself. It has been so fun expanding my @pluskoth printmaking/clothing upcycling project while gathering inspiration for new work from the gardens (and just generally playing around with cyanotype,) as well as connecting with the other residency artists @annetteheully , @bengrace.co , @lulusandhaus , and @eliot_spaulding . Thank you to everyone who participated in my project (as I invited participants to give me a garment of theirs to transform, which I will return to them after the residency showcase on April 26.) I want to especially thank @jpegmountain for all of her support, which included at one point giving me a delightful go-cart tour of the gardens to gather Banksia tree leaves and other specimens. And thank you to everyone else at Taft Gardens (Alexandra, Jaide, Aaron, Eduardo, John Taft!) for your support and for this opportunity.
