“ Home Grown “ is an initiative launched in 2022 by the Ministry of Social Development and Family Affairs & Qatar Foundation. Home Grown aims to establish a culture of sustainability, transform mindsets from consumer to collaborator, and enhance the efficiency of productive families in the State of Qatar.
We had the pleasure to work alongside the Drisha festival at Qatar Foundation and managed the entire activation of their heritage site, Al Khater House.
Our intention was to revive an area through cultivating collaborations, Qatari films screenings in collaboration with DFI, we focused on recreating an interactive homage to the generation that lived in this house through heritage games, poetry evenings, art, live Qatari cooking, a cultural Ardha dance and showcasing local artisans.
We loved activating the area through intentional collaborations facilitated through the Home Grown initiative and a creative, multifaceted project is always a favorite!

أخذت متاحف قطر في السنوات الأخيرة على عاتقها مهمة إحياء وتأهيل الأحياء التراثية في الدوحة، ومن بينها فريج النجادة، في قلب الدوحة. يعود تاريخ هذه المجموعة من المنازل التي كانت مملوكة لعائلات قطرية بسيطة إلى ثلاثينيات القرن الماضي. و الهدف من هذا المشروع هو أن إنشاء مواقع جديدة من خلال إعادة تأهيل المواقع الأثرية و بث الروح فيها من جديد.
يمثل فريج النجادة مجموعة إبداعية شاملة ومخصصة للانتاج ويستضيف مجتمعًا متنوعًا من كبار المبدعين و الناشئين الذين ينصب اهتمامهم على الحرف الحديثة المزدهرة في قطر، بما في ذلك التراث المعاصر وفنون الطهي والتجارب الرقمية.
In recent years, Qatar Museums has undertaken the task of reviving and rehabilitating heritage neighborhoods in Doha, including Al Najada neighborhood.
The history of this group of houses, which were owned by Qatari families, dates back to the 1930s and the goal is to create new sites by rehabilitating the heritage sites and revitalizing them.
Fereej Al Najada is a comprehensive creative and production group that hosts a diverse community of up-and-coming creators with an interest in Qatar's thriving modern crafts, including contemporary heritage, culinary arts, and digital experiences.
Opens every week from Wednesday to Saturday
4 pm to 10 pm
@fereejalnajada is one of the closest projects to my heart.. exhibiting a contemoprary take on a traditional historic place where I enjoyed working with a group of creatives to bring this freej (neighborhood) to life !
