Who knows Windsor McKay's 'Little Nemo in Slumberland' ? It's a masterpiece! 🌟 The illustrations are magnificent – such a treat to explore. I bought the faintly ridiculous compendium version and when my son was very young we used to read a couple of pages every night and we made it through the whole lot. It's just so beautiful. The print, the lo-fi quality, those thin etch lines – it's magnificent.

We don’t get hung up on perfectly cut out collages, as we want this to feel handmade and urgent, like a story that simply needs to be told right now. This tactile, raw approach allows us to stay close to the heart of the narrative without the distraction of digital perfection. It has been a privilege to work with a host of incredible creative talents, led by the driving force that is Byron Vincent.

hazy overlap of cherry blossoms and summer shadows, this is a digital daydream of those years, an experimental sequence using handmade animation to pull apart the layers of a memory, much like how a scent or a specific light can suddenly transport you back to when my daughter was small.

I have been creating a series of silhouetted characters for a new film commissioned from Curating Visibility. I decided to take a few of these punk and party-goer assets and rearrange them into a new composition just for fun.
I am always experimenting with how these hand-drawn elements sit within the visual aesthetic, and it has been a fantastic experience collaborating with Byron Vincent on these creative experiments. I avoid the clinical precision of clean digital lines, opting instead for the grit of jagged edges and visible layers. There is a specific energy in the imperfect, a sense of urgency that mirrors a story needing to be told without the filter of a glossy finish. This raw, tactile approach keeps me anchored to the heart of the narrative, ensuring the craft feels as human as the words themselves.

i have been running some experiments today on a zine-inspired motif, using it on some footage of dancers for a new test project.
i have really enjoyed the process of rotoscoping the dancers to give them a nice rough edge, then applying some proto-punk aesthetics. i have also been playing around with adding in some spray can effects. while you can usually find these kinds of things in stock libraries, i am always more excited to build them from scratch myself, especially for a new project.
there is a lot of different blending going on in the background, though not all of it is evident in this particular cut. it is really just a test phase for a project i am working on with the wonderful people at accentuate and london museum, in conjunction with byron vincent and the fellows.

i have been messing around with some inky, flat 2d experiments lately, using a really limited colour palette to see how simplistic block shapes can work together. skateboarding is such a beautiful pastime, and i wanted to try and capture some of those fluid movements and tricks. i have done quite a lot of longboarding in my time, which is not quite as glamorous, but it is still really enjoyable.
i might be making it all sound a bit grandiose though, as i am actually feeling pretty hungover today. i was out seeing the wu-tang clan last night, which was a fantastic gig, and we even managed to head to the afterparty and dance into the early hours. so i have made this just to relax, which is exactly what art should be, right?

i have been remaining completely transfixed with these experiments lately, and today i am colliding all kinds of different tests together.
as ever, these earthy, inky tones are really rewarding to work with, but i have become quite stuck on the loop of this girl dancing. she is reminding me of those vintage colouring books that you dont really see so much anymore, or even the drawings of henry darger. there is something about that specific style that feels both nostalgic and a bit strange when it starts moving.

i have been having a proper break from the heavily textured work to try something a bit more sharp and colourful.
this latest experiment is really nothing more than a bit of fun while i try out some new graphic techniques. i wanted to lean into those bold, flat blocks of mustard and navy to see how they play together. we all love to dance, dont we, so i have been playing with this repeating figure to capture that sense of movement.

spring is finally here in eastbourne, and the cherry blossom trees provide so much pleasure, so i felt i had to lean into that for this new bit of stop motion experimentation.
i have created a new collage film featuring a figure walking through a landscape of beautiful pink blossoms. i was trying to capture that aesthetic from vintage postcards, focusing on the really beautiful contrast and punchy colours. all in all, this film is just a little bit of playful fun.
