Networking is scary… and rewarding. I recently attended several networking events and meetings where I met people involved in local community initiatives related to writing. 🌿Join us for a walk around our Berewood nature reserve this Sunday from 10-1 and join in with a little creativity through art, sound and nature. Explore what we have around us and follow the lead from our creative leaders: @hantsiwwildlife // @aoifemannix // @plot_lines_ // @dragonfly.arts.centre We will be there at: ⏰ 10am 📍 Newlands Community Centre Carpark, Newlands Ave, PO7 3BX 🗺️ Explore the nature reserve in Berewood with a Hampshire wildlife specialist @hantsiwwildlife 🎨 Enjoy a creative session and paint and print using foliage we find during the walk led by myself at Dragonfly Arts 🎵 There are many sounds of nature to explore and link them with words, storytelling and prompts from our local writer in residence @aoifemannix Organised by the fabulous Gail @plot_lines_ There will be refreshments available at the Newlands Community Centre from 11:30 Please just come along for free, you’re welcome to bring your dogs too 🐕 This is an opportunity to discover the art that will be introduced to the area and learn how we plan to integrate creativity throughout the Grainger Berewood development. We’re very excited to be leading on Plot Lines, a new creative programme for residents in and around the Waterlooville area which aims to connect local communities using the power of words and storytelling. This highly collaborative project will be offering free workshops and events starting this Saturday 5 April, as well as opportunities for anyone local to the area to meet with award-winning poet and writer @aoifemannix , our Plot Lines’ writer-in-residence. Throughout the workshops and informal sessions, Aoife will chat with local residents about their personal experiences of moving to the area, their feelings about home, their memories, and their dreams for the future. The project also aims to connect with people who may like to be involved in future creative programming in the area, with community facilitator Gail Howard helping to recruit people young and old to explore what future arts programming could look like in the area. In the Summer @soup.work will be creatively responding to local residents’ words and stories from the project so far. Also designed by SOUP is the Plot Lines website (plotlines.co.uk) which also provides a way to digitally interact with the project via its ‘Join’ page where anyone can submit their photos, drawings or words in response to questions posed by our writers.
