Stumbled upon this beautiful review in @thepulp_missoula written by Jule Banville. Little did I realize that we were one of 18 films to be featured in this “binge film guide” at @bigskydocfest . What an honor to receive such beautiful words for our film! It never ceases to amaze me how viewers time and again receive this film exactly as intended ⭐️💫🙌🏽

More about the film:
Down on the Blues Alley in Holly Springs, Mississippi, you might meet David “Fox” Caldwell, the beloved owner of Aikei Pro’s Record Shop. Established in 1960 and a landmark on the Blues Trail, his shop was the hang-out for great Hill Country Blues artists like Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside — earning a place in blues magazines all over the world. Amidst waves of change and pressure from other business owners in town to close up shop, Mr. Caldwell, lovingly dubbed the “Father of the Alley,” keeps the dream alive, against all odds.

Last weekend Please Ask for It was nominated for two awards at the Oceanside International Film Festival and I am so pleased to say that we won Best Editing in a Short Film!!! Huge thanks to the lovely organizers and jury of @osidefilm for this recognition and their words of encouragement.
In 2021, I knew I wanted to finish the film but we didn’t have any money to spend on the project. I was unsure of how to proceed and it was @skkira who said to me one day “Just sit down and edit it yourself.” Of course, I had many reasons why that was simply not possible but eventually, I just did it. After a year of a very tedious and stressful edit with countless rounds of review, we could all safely say “It’s finished.” So I have to thank @skkira , @justing4000 , @camila_duh , @jacopo.campaiola , and Daniele for all of their help and support during the process. I have learned a lot by editing this film and it will undoubtedly make my next project even better. So to that end, never be afraid to try and learn something new. You may even win an award for it! 🏆💥🎞️🍾

2023 gave us a lot to be grateful for. We premiered our film, went on to have 10 screenings in 5 months, won 2 awards 🏆🏆, got to spend quality time with Mr. Caldwell and his family (twice!), got to witness Mr. Caldwell participate in a Q&A while also turning 96(!), and got to meet so many wonderful people along the way.
We have had a lot to soak up over the holiday break as we prepare for an even busier 2024…. 6 festivals are already on the docket for this year, and more to come. Thank you for all the support! Excited to see where we can go from here 🚀🔮🩵
