SF 76, pickled wood, 25 × 30 × 30 cm, 1976 A rather lesser-known work by Slavko Tihec focuses on the barrier between the object’s interior and exterior, bringing attention to the problem of extimity. The object acquires an additional performative nature as a loan from the national collection of Moderna galerija and is thus subject to strict temperature and humidity requirements. These are carefully maintained, unveiling the object as being the most sensitive to its spatial conditions. Hygroamass, dyneema fiber, epoxy resin, concrete, plexiglass, metal, 1200 × 180 × 40 cm, 2023 The combination of hygroscopic and the verb “amass” titles the artwork made of materials that focus on their interaction with precipitation. Concrete absorbs water and deposits it around and underneath itself, dyneema enables the droplets caught on its surface to form a distinct pattern and the plexiglass shape in the middle catches the evaporating rain from the ground in the form of condensation on the underside of the transparent object. The artwork forms a link between the atmosphere and the ground, channeling precipitation as an infrastructure through its forms. @zorzutneja for Plaza Protocol: ADAPTATION Photo: @zalbnrum / @_ratneek_ ADAPTATION was curated by @zorzutneja and @andrej.skufca Facilitated by @__tpp__ Supported by @projektatol and @sumjournal

sur140, aluminum, steel, variable, 2023 The installation forms an area, a network alignment of structures, dependent both on one another and the space around them. Emitting and absorbing changes from their surrounding field, the objects are an expansive proposal of a speculative nature. Embedded into their environment, with a nod to conspiracy as well as speculative theories, the constellation “fictions” the location as a site of a covert operation. @andrej.skufca for Plaza Protocol: ADAPTATION Photo: @zalbnrum / @_ratneek_ ADAPTATION was curated by @zorzutneja and @andrej.skufca Facilitated by @__tpp__ Supported by @projektatol and @sumjournal

Skylark, spruce steel, laserjet print, phototranspher, polyurethane, various dimensions, 2023 They point to the dialectical logic of urban brownfields in ruins—to the way they oppose the act of preserving. These decaying sites, by not being brought to their natural, preindustrial states, establish themselves in the active present as monuments. A charged silence dwells within these sites. What is most acute in ruins is the cessation of the formal and its transformation into sentient form. The material openness of ruins, the odor, and the crackling of glass and plastic beneath the feet foreground the body. The body "is roused by the resistance which it experiences," a quote by Tim Edensor. The work provokes it, hoping to induce prolonged corporeal excitement by activating it through open materiality and likeness—through the alien body, which is your connection to the real. @kinzam_ & @police_line___donut_cross for Plaza Protocol: ADAPTATION Photo: @zalbnrum / @_ratneek_ ADAPTATION was curated by @zorzutneja and @andrej.skufca Facilitated by @__tpp__ Supported by @projektatol and @sumjournal

Re-terraforming, blown glass, water, algae, 83 x 120 cm, 2023 The algae living inside the glass ampules are installed in a separate microclimate inside a service hole in the building. Turning brown if they should perish, the algae are one of Earth’s most active producers of oxygen and have played a significant role in its climate history. @larazagar for Plaza Protocol: ADAPTATION Photo: @zalbnrum /@_ratneek_ & @jonderganc ADAPTATION was curated by @zorzutneja and @andrej.skufca Facilitated by @__tpp__ Supported by @projektatol and @sumjournal

Landscapes (Kolkata, Varanasi, Goa), 30 gelatin silver prints, 17,1 × 17,1 cm, 2014 The images of heaps of eroded sand are photographed as they were, in fact, much larger geological formations. “The spaces between tiles of wood are the spaces between stars…”—a quote by Jure Detela that unveils the radical comparability necessary for processes of adaptation to take place. A flat ontology where objects, stripped of hierarchy, are tied to one another. @jonderganc for Plaza Protocol: ADAPTATION Photo: @zalbnrum /@_ratneek_ & @jonderganc ADAPTATION was curated by @zorzutneja a and @andrej.skufca Facilitated by @__tpp__ Supported by @projektatol and @sumjournal

Where it was at most filtered, site-specific, mixed technique, 1m², 2023 Extruded aluminum is shaped as cooling components found in electronics. The material and design are used as heat conductors intensifying the exchange between the puddle and the atmosphere. @zivabozicnikrebec for Plaza Protocol: ADAPTATION Photo: @zalbnrum / @_ratneek_ ADAPTATION was curated by @zorzutneja and @andrej.skufca Facilitated by @__tpp__ Supported by @projektatol and @sumjournal

SPATIA NON LUCEO NISI OPIFICUM (I do not light the spaces except for the workers), aluminum bronze (CuAl₁₀Ni₅Fe₄), 2023 The Latin name of the work derives from texts inscribed under sundials. The object shines light only at a specific time of day, under ideal weather conditions, when a sunbeam strikes its golden surface.  @istvanisthuzjan for Plaza Protocol: ADAPTATION Photo: @zalbnrum / @_ratneek_ ADAPTATION was curated by @zorzutneja and @andrej.skufca Facilitated by @__tpp__ Supported by @projektatol and @sumjournal

Anathema, mixed technique, 2x(75) × 210 cm, 2022 The object functions as a mold into which its immediate environment is imprinted both in the pictorial and material sense. It is placed so that the steel beams correspond to the existing installation in the space and under a dripping crack in the ceiling. @zamasak for Plaza Protocol: ADAPTATION Photo: @zalbnrum / @_ratneek_ ADAPTATION was curated by @zorzutneja and @andrej.skufca Facilitated by @__tpp__ Supported by @projektatol and @sumjournal

Spasmodic sap, industrial marker and oil pastels on polyester foil, 102 × 129 cm, 2023 & Spasmodic sap, industrial marker, oil pastels, polyester foil, eye pencil, 123 × 160 cm, 2023 The author focuses on an idea that evolution expels variety in forms, and results in a very narrow spectrum of possible living shapes making all still-living beings look somewhat similar to one another. Combing through the extinct branches, the drawings are an interpretation and reintroduction of bygone creatures into our world, their mediums combining with the unstable materials of the building, both slowly disintegrating. @liguree for Plaza Protocol: ADAPTATION Photo: @zalbnrum / @_ratneek_ ADAPTATION was curated by @zorzutneja and @andrej.skufca Facilitated by @__tpp__ Supported by @projektatol and @sumjournal
