46.3532182, 15.1231226 is a fictional research project focusing on the accumulation of limescale — a compound of calcite, magnesite, and other minerals. The installation consists of two glass heaters and containers that supply them with water and mineral solution. The heaters, as sites where the non-precious “rock” is generated, are open to human view and thus to speculative impulses that seek some form of gain or yield in the material – either by maximising its value or its quantity/size. The apparent scientific character of the installation is thus compromised from the outset as the chemical process is opened to esoteric and mechanical contamination. Does the “foreign element” infiltrate the system through the dissolution of carbon dioxide in water? When heating leads to the formation of the precipitate? Or is the foreign element the gaze itself? Perhaps the intention inscribed through unusual mahogany pedestals and their carved motifs?
46.3532182, 15.1231226 presents itself as a herald of chemical esotericism, a speculative discipline that seeks to reveal humanity’s inadvertent geological activity. The project is part of a duo exhibition by Oskar Kandare and Lara Žagar, within which materiality appears as a shared space for speculative thought and the questioning of epistemic procedures.

In biology, the function of a membrane is to separate the interior of a cell from its exterior. It operates selectively, allowing certain substances or signals to pass while blocking others. In this way, it de-
fines the boundaries of the world to which the organism is receptive, thereby establishing the conditions for its perception and exchange with the environment. Synthetic membrane materials, engineered for specific functions, intensify this normativity and construct increasingly narrow worlds. The work Membrane Leak begins to organise these artificial materials according to the logic of a biological organism, where the integration of numerous specialised and differentiated units enables more complex interactions with the environment.

Model of terraforming II, is a confrontation with the negativity of geological and biological violence, which manifested itself in humans as a desire to terraform the world so that consciousness could exist in it. Žagar shows us a speculative synthesis: a diagonal between the trauma of matter and its archive. In this interpretation, terraforming is a form of defensive memory of nature itself—the persistence of negativity that enables the experience of violence as memory.

Hvala vsem, ki ste prišli in skupaj z nami ustvarili pravo vzdušje ob otvoritvi skupinske razstave Vozlišče! 🪢
Umetniki Maks Bricelj @police_line___donut_cross , Samra Buljić @liguree , Matej Mihevc @h.265_ , Lara Žagar @larazagar in kurator ter umetnik Vid Koprivšek @koprivsekvid so nas skozi pogovor popeljali v svet sodobne umetnosti, kjer se prepletajo različni koncepti, materiali in ustvarjalni pristopi.

𝘀𝘆𝘀_𝟲𝘅𝟯_𝗖𝗔𝗧 by @oskarkandare and 𝟰𝟲.𝟯𝟱𝟯𝟮𝟭𝟴𝟮, 𝟭𝟱.𝟭𝟮𝟯𝟭𝟮𝟮𝟲 by @larazagar converge in a duo exhibition where #materiality becomes a shared space for #speculative thought.
𝘀𝘆𝘀_𝟲𝘅𝟯_𝗖𝗔𝗧 explores the boundary between the living and the non-living, questioning the meaning of bare existence and the possibility of autonomy within such a state, while 𝟰𝟲.𝟯𝟱𝟯𝟮𝟭𝟴𝟮, 𝟭𝟱.𝟭𝟮𝟯𝟭𝟮𝟮𝟲 emerges as a herald of chemical esotericism — a speculative discipline uncovering humanity’s inadvertent geological activity.

𝟰𝟲.𝟯𝟱𝟯𝟮𝟭𝟴𝟮, 𝟭𝟱.𝟭𝟮𝟯𝟭𝟮𝟮𝟲 by 𝗟𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗭̌𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿 focuses on the accumulation of #limescale. Heaters, as sites where this non-precious “rock” forms, are exposed to human view and to speculative impulses seeking gain or yield in the material — by maximizing its value or size. As a result, the chemical process becomes subject to #esoteric and #mechanical influences, undermining the installation’s apparent scientific character.
