What an honour to wrap up NZSL Week by receiving the prestigious NZSL Accessibility Award at the Deaf Aotearoa Award Ceremony! The NZSL Accessibility award is presented to a service provider, healthcare provider, business, organisation or individual that provides exceptional access and/or commitment to promoting NZSL and Deaf awareness. As the only New Zealand business providing specialised interpreting in the arts and events sector, we are incredibly proud to be recognised for our mahi with this prize. Kelly went down to Wellington to accept this award on behalf of the Platform Interpreting NZ team-an incredible group of hard working interpreters, administrative staff, Deaf consultants, Deaf arts practitioners, and Deaf talent who are all committed to providing NZSL-accessibility in all aspects of the arts and entertainment industry. Special recognition was also given to qualified NZSL interpreter and our founder Kelly Hodgins, whose vision and leadership has established a remarkable standard for live performance access in NZSL Thanks to Kelly's commitment, PINZ is now synonymous with exceptional specialised interpretation and consultancy. Both clients and Deaf / Hard-of-Hearing audiences know they can expect top-quality services at every event, whether it's a local theatre production, Deaf-led NZSL Gallery event or a stadium tour by the world's biggest international artists. Every day we are breaking down barriers. We get to witness Deaf people and non-deaf people bonding through shared experiences and the love of the arts. We are immensely grateful to be this year's recipient of the NZSL Accessibility Award. The past year in particular has been one of significant growth for PINZ, as we expand the pool of clients we work with, take our Deaf consultancy and performance interpretation to new parts of Aotearoa, and provide our services at larger events. Happy NZSL Week! This year is an extra special celebration, as we also commemorate 20 years since the New Zealand Sign Language Act 2006 was passed, making NZSL an official language of Aotearoa. This year's theme is 'An Aotearoa where anyone can sign', and we loved teaching these amazing performers how to sign a special message for NZSL Week! Thank you to @stageantics.nz , @playhousetheatreinc , @aucklandlive , @gntproductionsnz , @aucklandtheatreco , and @actthreeproductions for celebrating NZSL Week with us!
