Gateway to Wonder - Milford Sound, Fiordland Not even on the cruise yet, and Milford Sound is already showing off. Morning mist, a bit of rain, and Mitre Peak casually saying good morning. P.S. Great Walk bookings are now live: Kepler and Routeburn are almost full! Milford Track opens next week, so keep an eye out if you’re planning to go. Good luck! When you take time to look up - Lake Tekapo, Canterbury ✨ Iconic NZ with Dark Sky reserve means it is epic 24/7, Day and night! So take time to look up at night. Two photos taken at the same time: one focused on the stars, one on the church. Focus-blended them into a single image. The sky is a single shot (untracked), processed to bring out the details and colours that were already there. I’m also excited because from now on I’ll start shooting tracked with @moveshootmove . They sent me a sample to practice and to prep for the upcoming Milky Way season. Untracked has its limits, so I’m keen to see what tracked with longer exposures can pull out, more colour, more detail, and less noise. Settings: Sky - f/2.8 · 20s · ISO 2500 (single shot, untracked) Foreground - f/7.1 · 240s · ISO 1000 Gear: Fujifilm X-H2 XF 8-16mm f/2.8 #NZMustZDo #greenblooded #Astrophotography #darksky #airnzshareme

Wildlife Within Reach – Zealandia Photography Tours 🦜 The new season has started strong. Kōtare holding their ground, tīeke hunting for caterpillars, Tūī face full of pollen, Toutouwai munching on a snack, and all the small moments in between. These are some of the highlights from the valley from the first photography tour of the season. Every session feels different, and that’s what makes it fun. If you want a morning of wildlife, learning, and slow, calm shooting in the valley, check out the upcoming tour dates on @visit_zealandia . Beneath and Around Fitz Roy - Laguna de los Tres, Argentina A 23km day hike to one of the most iconic views in Patagonia. The trail was a proper long day, around 8 to 9 hours return, with the final climb making you work for it. But reaching Laguna de los Tres and seeing Fitz Roy rise above the lake made the whole effort worth it. I spent a bit of time around the water trying different views, from the wide alpine scene to the small details in the lake. It was one of those places where every few steps gave a slightly different version of the same massive view. Also had a little wildlife, Patagonian Fox, moment along the way, which made the day even better. Thanks for @fujifilmxseriesnz for loaning me the XF 8mm F3.5! Epic lens to capture utrawide magic 🤩 Gears: Fujifilm X-H2 XF 8mm F3.5 XF 70-300mm f4-5.6 #GreenBlooded #NatGeoYourShot #hikingtheglobe

Under the Dark Sky - Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve I’ve always wanted to join a stargazing tour in a dark sky reserve, so when I got the chance last March, I grabbed it. Went with @darkskyprojectnz for their Summit Experience at 1:45am, in one of the best spots in New Zealand, maybe even the world, for night sky viewing. Seeing the stars up close through a powerful telescope felt completely different from my usual ultrawide astro shots. There were so many telescopes pointed at stars, clusters, and galaxies, and the big telescope dome housed one of the biggest telescopes I’ve seen. Bonus, we had one of the clearest night skies right after a big aurora activity. The faint red and green glow on the horizon were the last remnants of it. I tried to capture the whole experience with the Viltrox 9mm F2.8 AF. Big thanks to @viltrox.usa for sending me the lens and supporting my work. Wellington in Its Full Colour - CubaDupa 2026 One weekend, one city, and streets full of colour, music, movement, food, costumes, and community. CubaDupa once again brought Wellington to life, with something happening around every corner from day through to night. What makes the festival special is the people behind it and within it, attendees, performers, organisers, volunteers, and everyone bringing energy into the city. Every act, every crowd, and every little in-between moment added something to the weekend. A small slice of the colour, character, and energy that made CubaDupa 2026 so special. Big thanks to the CubaDupa team for having me. Gears: Fujifilm X-T5 + XF 8-16mm F2.8 Fujifilm X-H2 + XF 50-140mm F2.8 #splendidcubadupa

Summer on the Routeburn - Routeburn Track, Fiordland First NZ Great Walk of the year, and my second time doing the Routeburn Track. This 33km 3-day hike still amazes me every time. From the waterfalls to the wildlife, it’s always good to be back. The Routeburn and Tongariro Northern Circuit are the two NZ Great Walks I’ve done more than once, so you can probably tell they’re my favourites. What’s one track you’d keep coming back to? When the sky decides to put on a show - Lake Tekapo One of my dream aurora shots. An iconic South Island scene, an old church, and a night sky bursting with colour. As a visitor, getting clear skies, no moon, and strong aurora activity all lining up at once does not happen often. Didn’t expect it to get this strong that night, but the colours just kept building. Greens, pinks, and streaks moving fast across the sky. Standing there watching it unfold over the old church felt unreal for a moment. Tried to keep it clean in a single frame, holding the aurora, the iconic church, and the stars without letting one overpower the other. A bit of patience, timing, and just letting the scene come together. One of those nights that reminds you why you stay out instead of heading back to a warm bed. 🤩 Captured: March 14, 2026, 10:47 PM Gear: Fujifilm X-H2 XF 8-16mm F2.8 #auroraaustralis #darkskyreserve #nzmustdo

Blue Hour Little Fairy - Stanley, Tasmania 🐧 As the sun slipped away, this little fairy penguin decided to show up. A parent had just finished a day of fishing and came ashore to meet its chick for feeding. Easily one of my favourite wildlife encounters from the trip. The light was fading fast, so this meant pushing to ISO 25,600 while keeping the shutter speed high enough for a sharp frame. Not the cleanest setting, but moments like this are all about timing, control, and making the most of the light you have. Winter, sunrise and icy reflection - Pouakai Tarn, Taranaki ❄️ That frozen tarn hit different this time. The surface was half glass, half cracked ice, and the mountain was glowing soft pink while the shadows stayed deep blue. I kept moving around the edge looking for a new angle, and it finally clicked when the reflection lined up and the ice started catching the light. First hike of my biggest and longest zoom lens, XF 150-600 (225-900mm ff eq). I was joking with my friends that I can see hikers on the top of the mountain with the reach. Thinking about it, I actually can if someone was at the top. 🤣 Gears: Fujifilm X-H2 XF 16-55mm F2.8 XF 150-600mm F5.6-8 #GreenBlooded #NZMustDo #airnzshareme

Light on the Horizon - Castlepoint, Wairarapa 🌌 Out on a @wairarapa night with @sambath we were hoping the southern sky would clear for an aurora, but the clouds never really gave us a break. Still, the trail in the dark turned into a fun little adventure, and the Milky Way core popped up behind the popular lighthouse. Castlepoint is stunning, but it makes you earn it 😅 The lighthouse cycles through colours, then goes dark, which gave me a 15-second window to shoot. Miss it and you wait for the next round. We also met @laurie_winter and had a little hike in the dark, just finding the best clear spot in the sky! We gave up tho after some time.
