Met trots laten we graag weten dat ‘Mapping Solidarity for Palestine’, een werkgroep van Platform BK, een van de deelnemers is aan de tentoonstelling Voorstellen voor de museumcollectie 2026 van het @stedelijkmuseum . [english in comments] De werkgroep bestaat onder anderen Saja Amro @sajaamr , Sarah Kuhail @sarahkuhail , Alina Lupu @theofficeofalinalupu , Hilda Moucharrafieh @hilda_moucharrafieh en Elektra Tatalia-Aloupi @elektra_ta . Onder de titel “Mapping Solidarity. Mapping the Silence”, gaan we een reeks participatieve workshops organiseren in het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam met kunstenaars, activisten, bezoekers en medewerkers van het museum. Daarbij brengen we in kaart welke infrastructuren vorm geven aan het idee van institutionele ‘neutraliteit’. In plaats van de vraag te stellen of het museum "een standpunt inneemt", onderzoekt Mapping Solidarity: Welke materiële infrastructuren produceren die zogenaamde neutraliteit? Hoe beperken financiële, politieke en reputatiestructuren de handelingsvrijheid? Waar liggen de drukpunten voor structurele verandering? In ons werk wordt het in kaart brengen van deze relaties en posities een artistieke en politieke methode om onderzoek te doen naar de financiering, de organisatie van bestuur en toezicht, en de politieke druk en tegendruk binnen deze instelling, die immers van ons allemaal is. Deze editie van de tweejaarlijkse tentoonstelling staat in het teken van ‘collaborative artistic practices’ en richt zich daarmee op artistieke praktijken die geworteld zijn in collectieve benaderingen van werken, denken en maken. Op basis van een open call ontving het museum 746 inzendingen, waaruit 15 voorstellen zijn geselecteerd door kunstenaars, makers en ontwerpers die structureel, incidenteel of tijdelijk samenwerken. Een selectie van de werken zal worden aangekocht voor de collectie van het museum. De tentoonstelling is te zien van 28 november 2026 tot en met 4 april 2027.

[𝗡𝗟] Het begrip Fair Practice heeft lange tijd goed gewerkt, maar loopt nu tegen zijn grenzen aan. De vage definitie van ‘fairness’, zonder duidelijke economische onderbouwing, maakte het concept echter vatbaar voor uiteenlopende interpretaties. Gaandeweg werd de implementatie van het begrip daardoor gekaapt door neoliberale interpretaties. Hoe bruikbaar is het begrip Fair Practice nog, nu het zoveel weerstand en verwarring oplevert? STATEMENT AFTER TAKE-OVER PANEL DURING ART ROTTERDAM AND PROSPECTS 2026: Collective Refusal is constituted by artists from PROSPECTS 25/26 by the Mondriaan Fonds and allies resisting the artwashing of militarisation and who advocate for the non-neutraility of cultural spaces and its infrastructures. This year, Prospects took place in Ahoy, Rotterdam. Last November, the same venue hosted the NEDS arms fair. We, our families, friends and visitors feel uncomfortable exhibiting art where weapons are dealt and sold. We sought a public conversation with the Mondriaan Fund. They refused, proposing a behind‑the‑scenes talk instead. We insist: this conversation must be public. Exhibiting here is artwashing – decorating a venue that profits from war. We resist normalising militarisation. If no one speaks out, soon it will be normal to have missiles shown in autumn and art in spring. We never agreed to show in an arms fair venue. That this conversation has been made so difficult should alarm everyone. Last year, artists faced a dilemma alone: withdraw and lose an opportunity, or participate and act normal. We discovered our discomfort was shared. We gave an alternative speech, placed stickers, and built support. So: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Fear runs deep in the art scene. Speaking out feels risky – fear of losing invitations, opportunities. Whether retaliation is real or not, the fear itself is unhealthy. Even public institutions are afraid. This needs to change. We expect the Mondriaan Fund to consider our demands. We expect Prospects to move to a better venue. Our demands: 1. Public accountability – no neutrality; silence is complicity. 2. Withdraw Prospects from Ahoy unless it severs all ties to the arms industry. 3. Relocate Art Rotterdam to a venue that does not profit from war. 4. Art Rotterdam @art_rotterdam and Prospects hosted by @mondriaanfonds are taking place in Ahoy @rotterdam.ahoy this year again. Collective Refusal @collectiverefusal is here with a new campaign. This weekend, this space presents art. Just months ago, this very venue hosted one of Europe’s largest arms fairs. Each year, Ahoy Rotterdam houses NEDS, where companies involved in the global weapons trade exhibit, network and secure deals, supplying arms used in active conflicts worldwide. Elke stem telt. Fair practice. Fair society.

A short visual overview of what was the “Up in Arms” event at @pakhuisdezwijger organized with @platform_bk and @jacobinnl . A longer reflection will follow. For now only to say what a joy it is to see a room full of cultural workers that stand together and think through the dilemmas of being pushed to support militarization, dealing with institutions that play the “neutrality” card, that deflect, gaslight and refuse to take responsibility and leave it up to precarious workers to gather the strength to stand up for their convictions. We are up for the challenge though! Thank you to @cultural.workers.unite , @geeftegengas , @kioskrotterdam , @valiz_books_projects , @workersforpalestine.nl , @tkachenkoroman , @balikbayan.nl for visually supporting the event. Met groot genoegen en eer verwelkomen wij Koen Bartijn (@koenbartijn ) als de nieuwe voorzitter van Platform BK. Koen is kunstwerker en bestuurder. Hij is artistiek leider bij @vhdg.kunst in Leeuwarden en bestuurslid van @decreatievecoalitie . Van 2020 tot 2023 vormde hij samen met Sepp Eckenhaussen het kernteam van Platform BK. Samen organiseerden en ondersteunden zij diverse acties en evenementen, waaronder 𝙳𝚒𝚝 𝚉𝚒𝚓𝚗 𝙾𝚗𝚣𝚎 𝙷𝚎𝚕𝚍𝚎𝚗 op het Malieveld met voormalig Platform BK’ers Yuri Veerman, Rune Peitersen en Joram Kraaijeveld, 𝚂𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚍𝚊𝚛𝚒𝚝𝚢 𝙲𝚊𝚖𝚙 in samenwerking met zes solidariteitsorganisaties, 𝙿𝚘𝚜𝚝-𝙿𝚛𝚎𝚌𝚊𝚛𝚒𝚝𝚢 𝙲𝚊𝚖𝚙 met @hotelmariakapel & Instituut of Network Cultures en het 𝚅𝚛𝚒𝚓𝚎 𝚁𝚞𝚒𝚖𝚝𝚎 𝙵𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚟𝚊𝚕 in samenwerking met @amsterdamalternative . Deze initiatieven brachten kunstwerkers samen om zich te verenigen en zich in te zetten voor een beter kunstklimaat in Nederland. Sinds zijn aantreden bij Platform BK schrijft, denkt en werkt Koen actief mee aan de ontwikkeling van Fair Practice in de Nederlandse kunstsector, onder meer door te schrijven, te lobbyen, actie te voeren en kunstenaars te organiseren. Hij publiceerde voor @mistermotleymagazine over het stilaan verdwijnen van kunstenaarssubsidies en recent voor @metropolism_mag over ontwikkelingen in het Fair Practice-beleid. Vanuit dit onderzoek verkent hij samen met Sepp Eckenhaussen en andere Platform BK-leden nieuwe vormen van kunstorganisatie en alternatieve culturele economieën. Koen kijkt ernaar uit om terug te keren naar Platform BK in een nieuwe rol. Met het nieuwe kernteam van @hilda_moucharrafieh en @arthur.kneepkens heeft het Platform Bk veelbelovende jaren voor de boeg, waarin samen met de leden en samenwerkingspartners van de vereniging verder wordt gebouwd aan een sterke, solidaire en toekomstbestendige positie voor kunstwerkers.

[𝗡𝗟] Met veel liefde en dankbaarheid nemen we afscheid van Mia van den Bos (@mia.vandenbos ), die aftreedt als algemeen bestuurslid van Platform BK. Mia is een kunstwerker, schrijver en kunstenaar uit Tarntanya/Adelaide. Na sinds 2019 in Arnhem te hebben gewoond, is ze recent teruggekeerd naar Australië, waar ze een nieuwe functie heeft bij de openbare bibliotheek in het hart van Tarntanya/Adelaide. Ze werkt daar ook aan een poëziemanuscript. Haar praktijk en onderzoek richten zich op arbeidersklasse-ervaringen, de geschiedenis van de arbeidersbeweging en een vernieuwde communistische poëtica. Ze studeerde af aan het @dutchartinstitute met The Artist’s Union, over de mogelijkheden en grenzen van vakbondsmodellen in de kunst. Tussen 2016–2019 was ze medeoprichter en codirecteur van Sister en werkte ze bij o.a. de Art Gallery of South Australia, Tarnanthi Festival, MOD, FRAN FEST en City of Adelaide. We danken Mia enorm voor haar inzet en wensen haar veel succes in dit nieuwe hoofdstuk. [𝗘𝗡𝗚] With much love and gratitude, we say goodbye to Mia van den Bos (@mia.vandenbos ), who is stepping down as a general board member of Platform BK. Mia is an art worker, writer, and artist from Tarntanya/Adelaide. After living in Arnhem since 2019, she recently returned to Australia, where she has begun a new role at the public library in the city centre and is working on a poetry manuscript. Her practice focuses on working-class subjectivities, labour history and renewed communist poetics. She graduated from the Dutch Art Institute with The Artist’s Union and was co-founder and co-director of Sister (2016–2019). She also held roles at the Art Gallery of South Australia, Tarnanthi Festival, MOD, FRAN FEST and the City of Adelaide. We thank Mia for her dedication over the past years and wish her every success in this new chapter.
