Reclaiming our right to a life with less plastics is a path of resistance and liberation. ✊🏽❤️‍🔥 As the world celebrates Plastic Free July we want to remind you this month is all about the small steps. The small steps that become habits. The habits that become the way we live our lives. You don’t have to go plastic-free to make a difference because the real change begins when we start questioning “the normal”. It begins when we realize that the “convenience” and “hygiene” promised by plastics are just a campaign to trap us in an eternal cycle of fossil fuel dependance, distrust and misinformation. A life of disconnection and fear. This Plastic Free July we invite you to question the “normal” and to remember that true systemic change starts with people like you and me, waking up to see the impact of the small things we do everyday. #plasticfreejuly #plasticfreefuture #intersectionalenvironmentalism #juliosinplastico #environmentaljustice #justiciaambiental

🍅 13 million tons of plastic are used each year by the agricultural industry—and it’s polluting our soils and food systems—but farm workers are the most exposed to the toxic side of industrial agriculture. 🧑🏾‍🌾 Most of the food grown today uses some form of plastic—mulch, irrigation systems, greenhouse coverings, and even plastic-coated fertilizers—all releasing microplastics and chemicals into the soil, the plants we eat, and the people tending to the land. ☣️ While materials like plastic mulch and fertilizer keep weeds and pests at bay, it is at the expense of chemical exposure to farm workers. People working the fields that feed the planet deserve clean, healthy working environments, not long-term exposure to toxic chemicals. #FarmWorkersDay #FoodJustice #EnvironmentalJustice #PlasticPollutes #BreakFreeFromPlastic #InternationalFarmWorkersDay

🚰 This World Water Day, let’s remember that it would take less than half of global annual bottled water sales to fund public, accessible drinking water to the 1 in 4 people globally without it. ‼️💧 The plastic bottled water industry undermines necessary investment in public infrastructure that could legitimately affirm the human right to safe drinking water, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Corporations and governments must put the health of people and the planet above industry’s profits. Learn more about how we can ensure safe water for all without plastic pollution at @plasticpollutes LINK IN BIO. 🔗 💡What do you see as the most important plastic-free solutions for water access? #WorldWaterDay #PlasticPollutes #BreakFreeFromPlastic #WaterEquity

🌿 Berta Cáceres was a Honduran Lenca activist and environmental defender who spent her life trying to stop extractive industries that devastated land, water, and communities. 🛢️The plastic crisis is an extractive one. It starts with fossil fuels being pulled from the ground, often in Indigenous communities, and ends with pollution being placed onto the people least responsible for it. 🌺 Her words remind us that real stewardship means changing systems that cause harm, not just cleaning up after them. 🌊 Quote by Berta Cáceres, Honduran environmentalist, Goldman Environmental Prize winner, and co-founder of the Civic Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras, @copinh . This year marks the 10th anniversary of her assassination on March 2, 2016. #PlasticPollutes #BertaCaceres #PlasticFree #FossilFuels #BreakFreeFromPlastic

🧠 A new review by scientists indicates that plastic particles in the body could be crossing the blood-brain barrier and promoting the formation of protein “clumps” found in those with Parkinson’s Disease. 🔎 It’s important to note that the review included studies of animals. Scientists are calling for further research. 🔬 Studies continue to show that plastic is not without harm. We need to turn off the plastic tap and use materials that are safe and regenerative — system-wide. Source: ScienceAlert.com and npj Parkinson's Disease. 🧴 40% of plastic pollution is used only once, and then thrown ‘away.’ 🌊 Once discarded, it makes way into our waterways, soil, air, and food chains. 🧠 No one is immune. 🧑‍🍼 Microplastics have been found throughout the human body. 🐢 And as we see often, wildlife across the animal kingdom are harmed. 🛑 When we work toward stopping plastic pollution, we protect all life on Earth. ❤️‍🔥 Let’s take action today! Join our Coalition working toward a world free of plastic pollution and its toxic impacts. Visit /coalition/join or our LINK IN BIO. #PlasticPollutes #BreakFreeFromPlastic #Microplastics
