Just over a year ago, I hid in the hold of an Airbus when @alittlelotty did a producers exchange on Broadway. With a cripplingly bad back after 9 hours on a plane and 3 hours stood waiting in JFK, I proposed to her on the first night. We then ate far too much Banana Pudding, hid from bears in Yosemite National Park, and drove through Death Valley under the stars with the top of the car down. It was really very good, but then again, everywhere I go with Lotty ends up being one of my favourite places. This is old news of course, but I recently got the film from that holiday developed. Here’s some of those pictures.

So my first draft of this film was in 2018, and my god it’s been an Olympic effort by an awesome team to get it over the line. And here it is. Petrol Head, that ridiculous action short film, inspired by my Grandad, my mates, my home, is going to be showing at Aesthetica. Aesthetica. One of our dream festivals. It’s honestly difficult for me to comprehend. What a joy. A lot has changed since we shot it. A lot. I’ve struggled to write, and struggled to drive. This, this is really, really nice. Special shoutouts to @jasperfrost , who said “hell, let’s do it” many many years ago, and to the man, the myth, the legend @hazz1998 , who’s always been there, be it for DIT, 2nd AC, sudden edits, conforms, captions… you are a genius and I love you very dearly. Thank you friends.

So it’s that time where I remember about posting on Instagram. A few things have happened so have a dump of them all. 1. Happened to get ENGAGED to the best and most inspiring and wonderful human I know. 2. Went to America and road tripped through Cali in a Mustang (massive ick I know) 3. Bought a house and moved to Manchester 4. Went to Poitiers for some mentorship by Simon Stephens and Carmen Nasr (and a crew of incredible writers) 5. Aged to approximately 47 years old, now do DIY 6. Now have the most gorgeous dog, he’s called Sebastian. 7. Picked up the guitar again and played a gig with @pevril_productions (and my Dad?!) 8. Work full time for Cloudburst 9. We’re now in rehearsals for Radiant Boy by @nancy.netherwood which opens in 3 weeks time 10. We’re bringing back the absolute incredible ‘A Manchester Anthem’ this summer 11. Petrol Head is trying to kick and scream onto festival screens (thoughts and prayers please) It’s spring outside, and that’s fantastic.

Alright, considering it’s under a week away I should probably post about it! There’s a work in progress reading of my new play, creatively titled “Devil Play”, next week at A Pinch of Vault 🤙 Downstairs in The Glitch, just by Waterloo, 9:30, 1 hour. Feat. @hello_lottyx playing a 49 year old, @sam.james100 being regrettably charismatic, and me getting likely too bevved up while reading out the stage directions. It’s exciting and wonderful and terrifying and I’d love you to be there.

Alright alright alright alright. It’s been a while, there’s been a whole lot of things that have happened, both good and rough. Why have I posted a huge picture of Jonny Lee Miller’s head though. Why. Well, last July @cah_creative_ and I decided to have a go at making a company. We called it @cloudburst_ltd after that Kate Bush song and for no other reasons. Back to Jonny Lee Miller. I’m ridiculously happy to say that our first show is A Mirror on the West End. Cloudburst are the Associate Producers. It’s a bit silly really, but the hard work is just beginning. Theatre’s in an odd spot. We’ve got stage projects, screen projects, and a whole load of development opportunities for both. Give us a follow, as we’re announcing more very (very) soon. And come and see A Mirror. It’s really good.
