In a suburban pocket of Kobe, the hybrid home, studio, and business first had to navigate the site’s topographical challenges – namely, a dramatic slope that drops around five meters, plus a busy commercial street to one side. The response by the designer/owner
@masatokawakami_ was to establish a pair of offset volumes, placed diagonally to negotiate both the slope and the character of the surroundings. This move created two distinct outdoor spaces while subtly separating the building’s public and private areas. Link in bio for full feature.
