The 3rd Global Placemaking Summit
is coming to Bangkok, Thailand
March 18–22, 2027
We’re inviting placemakers, urbanists, and community builders from around the world to gather in Bangkok, a city shaped by everyday life, creativity, and constant movement.
The journey continues.
After inspiring gatherings in Mexico City (2023) and Toronto (2025), the Summit is heading to Asia for the first time. Hosted by Placemaking Thailand, Urban Studies Lab, and PlacemakingX, this next chapter brings the conversation closer to the East.
What to expect?
Not your usual conference. This is about being out in the city, learning from real places, and exchanging ideas through experience, not just presentations.
Theme
Place Forward — Reclaim, Rethink, Reconnect
At the core of this year’s summit is the Thai idea of “Sanuk” (joy). We see placemaking as something that should feel open, inclusive, and enjoyable just like the places we hope to create. Together, we’ll explore how culture and everyday creativity can build a stronger sense of belonging.
Let’s move places forward, together.
More details on how to get involved, partners, and the full program are coming soon. Stay tuned 👀
