I would be remiss if I didn’t post about our baby shower, from last Sunday. It was a perfect day, filled with family and friends, that helped celebrate this exciting time in our lives.
I honestly can’t remember a time in my life that I’ve ever been this happy and fulfilled. This is only the beginning, too.

This was too good to not share. Full circle moment because I’m using my dad’s guitar. My father used to play with me like this when I was a kid, which got me started playing the drums.

Chirp’s pink drum set was a gift from my dear friend @the_club_is_open that he got for her on the day she was born.
February
It began with a weekend getaway accompanying Jess and Ben to Southhall, complete with Pictionary, laughing harder than we meant to.
🐣 Chirp experienced her first carousel ride and more “shopping” trips to Costco (currently her most fond activity).
We then wrapped up in Manhattan, there and back again, the last flight home before the blizzard arrived, in time to make the Symphony Stradivarius dinner.
February carried winter’s last weight without bitterness. She loosened her hold without fear of what follows.
She gave us ordinary magic, slow mornings, small adventures, steady love.
And as she slips away, she doesn’t vanish. She becomes the quiet foundation on which the first green will dare to stand.

We escaped the cold for a much needed warmup in Cali returning just in time for an icee lock-in in Nashville. Grateful we were minimally impacted.
Meanwhile, I wrote this early one Tuesday…
Exhaling mid-stride,
a tiny hand steadying itself around my neck,
one second, two.
Life shaped by beauty,
meant for reverence,
steeped in gratitude, bathed in turquoise shadow.
Not with doctrine or demand,
without judgment, quiet, generous, ever present, and passing.
Could I arrest time?
The noise of the world overwhelms, poised, within a photograph, devotion,
material evidence.
Time, merciless and fleeting,
wind off the water, here,
then gone without apology.
Each day a beginning,
and with her,
Every week a millennium:
a milestone, a threshold, a chapter turning
Yearning for stillness.
Aching for adventure.
Lusting wildly for that which I already possess.
Three, four.
Christmas this year was filled with love, family, great food, and pure magic—seeing it all through our daughter’s eyes made it even better. 🎄❤️ 🎅 🤶 ❄️ ⛄️ 🎁
