Words are incapable of communicating just how impactful and cathartic this event was for me. It was a painful journey with lots of tears and bruises but I’m so thankful for @queenbeeburlesque for creating such a beautiful safe space for art. The bliss after a burlesque show ~ thank you @queenbeeburlesque , consider me tickled purple after this production💜🐝 I’m glad to have been able to support two local businesses; first, @barsbeatsand_eats who were not only kind and generous with their energy, but the food had SO MUCH CARE in it. My hotdog felt like SpongeBob making a crabby patty and reading a bedtime story to the pickles before giving it to Bubblebass- no kidding, this food is made with LOVE y’all. Go check them out and see if they can come to your next event ☺️ Thank you also to The Bent Baker for the comforting bath salts that I am sitting in as I write this, imma smell too good coming out and the world is going to have to prepare themselves for that🛁🫧🛀 Last, but ABSOLUTELY not least, thank you to @pixie_twinkle_dance and @whatintheeverloving for welcoming me with open arms. This week was a hard one for me, and being able to come here and be embraced by y’all made all that ick, feel small again. You and ALL your production team made me dream again- to dream bigger, and live life knowing we left nothing to regret. The education you put into this show proves that art, awareness, and beauty can all exist at the same time and in the same space without compromise. This show was centered around the theme of how substances play their roles in our worlds- how they show up personally, scientifically, and politically. A focus on harm reduction bridged the gap between complete abstinence, and overindulgence in repetitive patterns. This not only broke the stereotypes of usage, but the education on how to navigate the world with it. It’s an incredibly important take on this subject, and I’m honored to have been able to see it. The venue: all my Autistic/easily overstimulated friends, this is a PERFECT spot if you want to see a show without being overwhelmed sensorily. There is so much space to roam in the patio areas and still see the show from their TVs. You can be integrated without being uncomfortable if you ever need or want a break. Oh, you thought I was just gonna hand over the hosting duties to my bestie Lisa Luxe and quietly sit in the corner like a well-behaved Victorian orphan?? BABE. Absolutely not. Not today. Not for my show. Not for my absolute fever-dream of an idea. This is my story, my unhinged brainchild, my personal love letter to harm reduction, community, recovery, relapse, reclamation, glitter, grief, joy, and every single messy miracle in between. And you best believe I am guiding you through this entire night like the deranged fairy godmother of chaos that I am. I, Pixie Twinkle, will be hosting. Lisa will be hosting. We will be hosting TOGETHER, like two goblins who discovered a microphone and trauma-bonded over it. I’ve been reflecting deeply on what I’m doing with my creativity and this platform—and I’ve realized something: I’m here to disrupt. (hello, Aquarius energy). My art isn’t for everyone, and it’s not supposed to be. Burlesque was never meant to be polished or safe—it was born as gritty, messy, sexy social commentary. And that’s exactly what I’m here to bring back. I’ve been exiled. Talked about. Dragged through the mud. I’ve lost friends without conversation. I’ve been bullied out of “safe spaces” and written off before anyone asked me who I really was. But all of it has shaped me into who I am now: a disruptor, a creator, a woman who refuses to stay small. Here’s the truth: • Sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll nearly destroyed me. • They also gave me my redemption. • On November 1, 2012, I began my recovery journey—and I’ve been walking a never-ending path of freedom, service, and self-discovery ever since. Science tells us that altering consciousness is one of the most human things we do. From caffeine to psychedelics, from alcohol to meditation—even animals seek altered states (dolphins get high off pufferfish, birds eat fermented berries). The urge to shift our minds is not a flaw—it’s our nature. And that’s where my next creation comes in. A wild, dirty, glitter-soaked exploration of sex, drugs, rock ’n’ roll… and the recovery, resilience, and rebellion that come with it. We’ll confront stigma. We’ll play with taboos.
