A packed opening for @pixie_cram ’s new short film “The Pavilion” at @iffottawa , paired with Amel Guellaty’s “Where the Wind Comes From”. It was calm, thoughtful, and beautiful, with some truly magical stop motion animation sequences. What much of the world needs reminding of, I think. IFFO 2026 runs until Sunday March 22 and there’s a ton of interesting screenings left. Check it out. There’s also an artist talk with Pixie at @digitalartsresourcecentre at Arts Court, Weds March 25 at 6pm. Lots to discuss in pulling off a project like this. My thanks to Pixie for inviting me over! What a way to spend International Women’s Day. Many thanks to the facilitators who brought their expertise to the inaugural Creator Lab and shared their knowledge so generously. Their commitment to helping other Women+ elevate their creative skill sets is deeply appreciated. Thanks as well to the Digi60 board members and volunteers who came out to support the event and ensure everything ran smoothly. Finally, a huge thank you to the phenomenal group of participants. The Creator Lab brought participants together for a full day exploring different aspects of the filmmaking process. The group shared openly and asked thoughtful questions - creating the kind of warm, safe environment that makes meaningful learning possible.
