MEET OUR YEARNERS... introducing GERM (they/them) GERM is a visual artist from Meanjin Brisbane. Working on Yuggera and Turrbal Land. Their practice ranges from painting and illustration to sculpture and animation. GERM’s playful approach to art encourages them to continue to push boundaries, explore new mediums and build skills in various practices. MEET OUR YEARNERS (and our life drawing model)... Cosmikayla (she/her) Cosmikayla is a Meanjin based Yawuru artist living and creating on Turrbal-Yuggera land. She uses acrylic paint and colour pencil for her works on canvas and wood panels. Her works often explore harder to place emotions through everyday objects. MEET OUR YEARNERS... introducing Tangles Dwyer. (they/them) Tangles Dwyer is an emerging artist based in Meanjin (Brisbane), driven by material experimentation and tactile exchange. Their practice draws on fetishism and kink as spaces of power, intimacy and control. With a focus on how their work is engaged with, Tangles' practice has shifted towards directly interactive forms. Through performance, sculptural elements, and emerging experiments with puppetry, Tangles engineers situations that encourage and pressure participation, testing how people act, what they allow, and where they hesitate. Navigating charged spaces between discomfort and care, Tangles practice invites proximity, implicating the viewer into the power dynamic being exchanged. JUNE 05, 26. DO YOU YEARN? PINING&YEARNING "THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE", an art showcase facilitated by KIKO&ISIS on June 5th at 47 Balaclava St, Woolloongabba 4102. This event is 18+, NO BYO. This night will be one full of genuine connection, self expression, inevitable soul baring, secret sharing, prolonged eye contact, hand holding, wishful thinking, wholehearted yearning-- and most of all, being human. 20 artists, 2 bands (Lace Angel & Mwah), Interactive Attractions: Live interactive poetry by @kosmickink , Poetry Club (Prompt oriented poetry writing & sharing) by @holypersonpoetry , Scrapbooking workshop by @teg.monkey , Life Drawing segment with live model @cosmik.ayla hosted by @bubblybitch__tattoo . You're not going to want to miss this. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to OXFAM (in support of the Sudanese Refugee and Palestine appeals) and The Owl & PussyCat Sanctuary out of Byron Bay. DO YOU YEARN? introducing "THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE" an art showcase facilitated by K&I of P&Y. we would like to formally invite you to apply for the PINING&YEARNING art exhibition "The Human Experience". our january debut showcase was an incredible, heartwarming event, we are so grateful for all those who participated and the reception we received. our hearts are full and we are excited to keep the ball rolling. if you are not well versed in the art of yearn, we urge you to have a conversation with yourself about the things that make your heart ache to the fullest. to the unrequited, the unconditional lovers, the hopeless romantics, the ones who long to be seen and heard— we hear you, and we have a space for you to truly wear your heart on your sleeve. pour your heart into your craft and bare your soul at PINING&YEARNING "The Human Experience". applications are open NOW and will close on april 4th. we wholeheartedly look forward to hearing from you. application link in bio. with love, with yearning, k&i of p&y.
