ONDE ONDE This is the girls favourite kuih (cake in Malay) and mine too. Not only are they delicious but they are super fun to eat as the sugar explodes in your mouth!! These are made with glutinous flour flavoured with pandan extract and butterfly blue pea flower. They are then stuffed with Gula Melaka( Malaysian palm sugar). Mine are super special. I got them from my last trip to @tanjongjararesort where I visited the local markets as part of my cookery class. We picked up these crumbly delicious sugar. They have the consistency of fudge! I remembered urging my students to buy loads so if you are watching, make this! The balls are boiled, they are ready when they float, the sugar is melted inside & contained then rolled in fresh coconut. Let it cool and when you crush them with the roof of your mouth, the sugar explodes! RULE of eating ONDE ONDE - as demonstrated by my eldest (expert level) you got to down in one! You cannot bite!
