So chuffed to have a Pineview Plant introduction Epimedium ‘Scarlotti Biscotti’ being featured on the beautiful @pelhamplants@chelseaflowershow 2026 display combining wonderfully with a form of Dryopteris erythrosora
Just back from a wonderful couple of days in Gent celebrating yet another birthday, which I share with the amazing David Attenborough although not as many times. We’ve been to Gent many times and it never fails to charm and amaze me. The people who do the lighting really deserve so much credit, but the architecture is the star.
Flowering three weeks earlier than last year @the_rhs@chelseaflowershow 2025 for the @hardyplantsociety Kent Grp display, fortunately flowering during judging, helping to secure a Silver-Gilt medal. It’s Meconopsis ‘Galloway Sky’. I obtained it optimistically from @kevin.d.hughes as a sandy Kent garden isn’t ideal for this plant which is why it’s still in a pot. #meconopsis #meconopsisgallowaysky #rhschelsea2025 #hardyplantsociety
Fascinating look round Chris Lane’s National Collection of flowering cherries with the Kent Group of #hardyplantsociety and stopping off at other collections on the way, like Peonies, Wisteria, Cydonia (quince) and hamamelis. He is a walking horticultural encyclopaedia with a mine of useful information and recommendations. Great morning.
A roundup of some of the plants currently in flower in the garden an unnamed Camellia, a daffodil that always flowers this time of year, Hamamelis ‘Robert’, a Helleborus x hybridus seedlings, a Primula that is normally a double, Lonicera fragrantissima, and Daphne ‘Spring Herald’ all a bit early and some like the honeysuckle have been flowering for weeks! Happy and Peaceful Christmas
It’s that time of the year again when the Kent group of @hardyplantsociety and several other group round the country start the annual seed packing for the Societies Seed Distribution #hardyplantsociety #seeddistrubution #kenthardyplantsociety #seedpacking #seeds
Another wonderful visit to #thrievegardens and the autumn gentians were looking stunning in the sunshine if you visit Dumfries try to go there #autumngentians #gentianasinoornata
First time visiting this amazing independent specialist nursery @swinesmeadow with the enthusiastic owner Colin (great name!) Ward as our guide. They’re open until December so it’s a great opportunity to choose trees (and shrubs and perennials) for autumn and get them in the ground at the perfect time! Very much worth the journey and we came away with some cracking plants!
Just returned from the lovely canarian island of La Palma where its mountains (2.4 km ht ex volcano) are topped by 30+ observatories the sky’s are so clear, providing an ‘interesting’ drive with many hairpin bends above the clouds, to the black volcanic beaches and blue clear sea La Isla Bonita indeed.
I think we’re beginning to reach peak Cyclamen hederifolium flowering time, those 25 years of neglect has worked well! 😀 #cyclamen #cyclamenhederifolium #peakflowering
