Overwhelmed by another stunning September magazine article on our garden, this time in the @theenglishgardenmagazine As if that wasn’t enough… our garden is on the front cover! 👏🎉 At the risk of sounding like an Oscar’s acceptance speech!!!… many thanks to Nicky @sussexstills for her fabulous photography and Ed @rotheramblings for his wonderful words. Final thanks to everyone that has in various ways supported and believed in @pelhamplants in our ongoing evolution. Your support is not taken for granted. ❤️ Our garden wasn’t intentionally designed, instead it has evolved as a test-bed and stock-beds for the nursery, so the fact it’s deemed good enough for an article such as this, makes it extra special. If you’re interested in our plants, visit our website pelhamplants.co.uk where you can book a visit to the nursery, or join us on the road with our wonderful @plantfairsroadshow colleagues plantfairs.co.uk #theenglishgardenmagazine #sussexstills #rotheramblings #pelhamplants #pelhamplantsnursery #sussexgardens #gardensofsussex #gardens #englishgarden #gardensofinstagram #gardenersofinstagram #gardenphotography #summergarden #horticulture #gardenlife #independentplantnursery

We often tell customers how bees love Cirsium rivulare 'Trevor's Blue Wonder' This one travelled all the way from the nursery on to our @the_rhs Chelsea 2026 display. It didn't want to leave when asked to move! Come and see Trevor and the bees on our @pelhamplants stand in the Pavilion, GPC036 #pelhamplantsnursery #rhschelsea2026

Briza media 'Limouzi' looking marvellous in the morning light on the nursery. These are a big feature in our @the_rhs Chelsea 2026 display too. A great plant to have repeating in a sunny spot. #pelhamplantsnursery #rhschelsea2026

Thank you for @sussexlocal for featuring us @pelhamplants in the run up to @the_rhs Chelsea 2026! 🙏 The display this year represents our nursery within the garden model, where we propagate plants in our woodland edge setting, using the garden as a stock bed and creative testing ground for the plants we sell 🖼️ Read more about it in the article here 💚 /chelsea-journey-woodland-edge-to-sw3/ Come and visit us in the Great Pavillion! Stand GPC036! 🎪 More information about us and the nursery is here: / 🔗 #pelhamplantsnursery #rhschelsea2026 #sussexlocal #sussexbusiness

Great to talk with Alexandra Campbell of @the_middlesized_garden along with @thenonamenursery and @hardysplants about thugs and good doers and how to use them wisely in the garden 🦉 Alexandra has put together another great resource: /garden-thugs-best-worst-one-avoid-plant/ Have a read and think about the thugs and good doers in your garden. Perhaps some of ours will even make it to Chelsea which always shows, right plant, right place! Her website and @youtube channel is invaluable: https://youtu.be/xSWvQBca_AQ?si=lpepuxkouKZHz3m2 We love the Macleya microcarpa 'Spetchley Ruby' we discussed in the feature, and shown in photo 2, a beautiful wanderer, give it room to roam!

Head to The Pavilion at Chelsea this year - and meet the fab nurseries from @plantfairsroadshow - specialist growers who know their stuff! 🍁 Miles Japanese Maples (West Sussex) Celebrating their 10th anniversary, founder Miles Hayward is returning to his horticultural roots with a display championing Acers grown from seed and spotlighting propagation and forgotten heritage cultivars. The exhibit embraces the ‘Komorebi’ (dappled light) trend, utilizing a simplistic black backdrop to make the vibrant leaf colours and structural diversity of the maples take centre stage. 🌱 Pelham Plants (East Sussex) Plantsman Paul Seaborne presents a “Propagator’s Garden,” an unapologetic celebration of the heavy clay soils of The Weald. Highlighting resilient woodland-edge perennials, the exhibit provides a fascinating look into a working artisanal nursery. Expect contextual planting that naturally emerges from the landscape, complete with a living stock bed and cold frame showcasing traditional propagation in action. 🔍 Moore and Moore Plants (Essex) Seeking a fifth consecutive Gold medal, shade specialists Moore and Moore offer a forensic perspective on horticulture. Former Met Police fingerprint expert Lynne Moore explores ‘Botanical Fingerprints’—highlighting how the intricate, individual markings on plants (like the nectar-guiding spots on their foxgloves) are entirely unique to each flower’s development, much like a human fingerprint. 🌦️ Daisy Roots (Hertfordshire) With extreme weather increasingly challenging UK gardeners, Annie Godfrey of Daisy Roots is a dry garden champion. Her climate-conscious exhibit is a masterclass in resilience, showcasing a spectacular array of tough, drought-tolerant varieties perfectly adapted for dry garden schemes. 🌵 Ottershaw Cacti (Surrey) Bringing a true visual spectacle to the Pavilion, this Surrey-based family nursery is merging horticulture with cutting-edge display technology. Their exhibit will feature lovingly-grown cacti plants and the UK debut of a breathtaking 3D timelapse by ScanLABS capturing cacti as they ‘breathe’ and come into full bloom.

Nothing like a frost just before @the_rhs Chelsea 2026, just following a particularly warm, bright and dry spring, to keep us on our toes. Much tetris and fleecing going on in the nursery to protect the stock. This is the skill of growing the plants we have to remind ourselves of! A bit more of a discussion about some of the things growers grapple with is in this recent @gardens_illustrated article here: /chelsea/warm-spring-havoc-chelsea

'Ivan' is starting to open on the nursery 🎉 This is a brilliant, Geranium psilostemon X oxonianum hybrid, that repeat flowers very well (especially if given a cut back after first flush) and has a relatively neat and tidy clumping habit for the border, rather than being as rangy as other psilostemon. Great foliage too, one of those true good doers. For sun or light shade in any reasonable soil. For sale on the nursery today 🌸 We are open 9-2 and this is our last day of opening before @the_rhs Chelsea Flower Show 2026 🤞 when the nursery will then re-open Fri 29th May. /events-we-attend/ #ivan #geraniaceae #pelhamplantsnursery #opentoday #rhschelsea2026

Tradescantia ohiensis putting out its beautiful blue flowers today. This is a strong, taller Tradescantia, reaching up to a metre or so, and tolerant of sun, part shade and most soil types.. This was originally from Colin @pineview_plants (who we wish a very happy birthday today!!) The nursery is closed this morning but reopens at 1.30pm and then we are open as usual tomorrow Sat 9th May 9-2 and then we are at the @plantfairsroadshow plant fair at @bordehillgarden this Sunday! /events-we-attend/

Geum 'Dark and Stormy' looking good on the nursery today. We have a few left in 2L pots, great for sun to light shade in good soil. Just a reminder that the nursery is closed tomorrow morning (Fri 8th May) but open again from 1.30pm to 5pm. Open as usual Sat 9th May, 9-2 and then we'll be at the @plantfairsroadshow Plant Fair at @bordehillgarden on Sunday 10th May. #geum #rosaceae #pelhamplantsnursery

Enjoyed this combination of Viburnum opulus 'Roseum' with Lonicera periclymenum 'Belgica' and the blue sky in the @pelhamplants garden yesterday. Good climbers up through shrubs can give such a lovely effect. The nursery is closed tomorrow morning, Fri 8th May, until 1.30pm as we have some essential work to do in the garden, whilst admiring the shrubs (!) so please come and visit us in the afternoon rather than the morning. The nursery is then open as usual on Sat 9th May, 9-2 and then of course we will be at the great @plantfairsroadshow plant fair at @bordehillgarden on Sun 10th May...oh and did someone say it was also @the_rhs Chelsea set up from next week too...🏃 Keep in touch with our openings and events at /events-we-attend/ #pelhamplantsnursery #sussex #plantfairs #rhschelsea2026

Diascia barbare 'Blackthorn Apricot' This is a beautiful, compact to 30cm or so twinspur that flowers constantly from late spring to autumn. It's such a lovely colour and great for a sunny pot or front of border in well drained soil. We find it one of the hardier and more reliable Diascia and it even survives over winter on our heavy clay soil and relatively frosty garden, just don't cut it back. Coming with us tomorrow to the @plantheritage plant fair at @thewaitrosefarm @leckfordestate /events/hampshire-grand-plant-fair #diascia #scrophulariaceae #plantfair #pelhamplantsnursery #plantsforsun
