@kee_raa_mik West German Pottery ~ Mid-Century ~ Collectable Stocking ~Scheurich | Ruscha | Bay | Carsten Topferei | Silberdistel | Jasba | Stueler | Dümler & Breiden KEE RAA MIK is run by Leigh Craft & Luisa Hansal In 2015, Fritz (Luisa’s Dad) took Leigh and Luisa to meet Rolf Seher at his home in Hassmersheim, Germany. Rolf lived in the house of the architect who designed Burg Guttenberg, one of Germany’s oldest and best-preserved castles, dating back to the 12th century. A passionate collector of art, antiques, furniture, and West German pottery, Rolf was initially reluctant to part with any pieces from his vast collection. However, in 2017, after many conversations with Luisa’s parents, he surprisingly agreed to send a freight container of 100+ West German ceramics to Boorloo (Perth), hoping to share his love for West German pottery with Western Australia. In November 2023, Leigh and Luisa closed Pig Melon as an exhibition/event space and converted it into their home / studios. Since February 2024, they’ve been housing Rolf’s pottery collection in their lounge room. Leigh and Luisa are honored to share Rolf’s collection of Mid-Century West German pottery with the Boorloo/Wayalup community at Current as part of Fremantle Design Week. Rolf doesn’t own a phone or have internet access, but if we could reach him through channels other than a trip to Germany and a knock on his front door, we know he’d be thrilled. Tomorrow is the last day to see Jack Wansbrough’s stunning exhibition ‘Meteorite Inquiries’ ! Open 11am-5pm | 181 Lord Street, Boorloo “I think we all expect morsels of chance to impact our lives or to change our trajectory, but in the anticipation to illuminate their sudden presence, we can sometimes feel disappointed by the outcomes brought on by seeking clarification. It’s merely industrial waste or only terrestrial in nature; not a chunk of fallen star. But the space between knowing and complete mystery is serendipity. It’s everything to do with the possibility rather than the revelation.” - excerpt from exhibition text by @ppperrr_haps + A selection of artworks, wares and jewellery are still available for the G🍉za fundraiser ~ handmade and donated by @sob__sob__sob artists. ++ Make sure to check out @notpipe ’s painting ‘Of old friends, fountains and frescos (memory scape 1)’ in the KUDO Window! ~ For sale enquires DM us here or email [email protected] Image: @jackwansbrough , Fleabane Garden, 2023. Exhibition opening Saturday 11th Nov | 2pm ~ laterrr Jack Wansbrough - Meteorite Inquires 1980-1995 Meteorite Inquires 1980-1995 is a series of drawings in solder on upholstered panels. The name comes from a lever arch file, found in a bin, containing 15 years of correspondence between the Western Australian Museum and members of the public asking ‘is this a meteorite?’ It’s an obscure archive of stones and slag, strange phenomena, and work carried out whether or not it’s luminous. Jack Wansbrough (@jackwansbrough ) is an artist based in Boorloo. He usually works collaboratively across different disciplines. Recent works include The Rock Pool at Old Customs House, The Noise and Vibration Council for Audible Edge festival of sound, and The Many Forked Tongue at Private Island. ✿  Exhibition runs 12th Nov - 18th Nov Sunday 12th Nov, 11am - 5pm Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri (by appointment only) Saturday 18th Nov, 11am - 5pm To book an appointment please DM us here or email [email protected] ✿  Images: Jack Wansbrough - Meteorite Inquires 1980-1995 [installation view & detail] Photos: Guy Louden | @guyyy_guyyy

Hello to our dearly beloved community of artists, supporters, friends near and far, and everyone in between <3 Pig Melon will be closing its doors [for now] as we take some time to rest and puzzle out some logistics of running Pig Melon - our cherished home / A-R-I. We can foresee many more projects and exhibition opportunities on the horizon, but for now we’re going to take a little break. Since opening in August 2019 we have presented 66 exhibitions / events featuring over 190 artists! :-O The past three and a half years have been deeply humbling and we are forever changed by the love and support you’ve all given to Pig Melon. Thank you for never failing to blow us away with your incredible talent, enthusiasm, kindness, generosity, and GOOD times! Pig Melon wouldn't exist without you all and we are truly grateful and blessed to be a part of such a generous, respectful and loving community. Thank you @ppperrr_haps - our number 1 helper, best friend, confidant and supporter! We honestly couldn't have run Pig Melon without you! Thank you for helping with installs and all those big decisions along the way, and for the energy and enthusiasm you brought to all the late night meetings. You have always been here for us, no matter what - no words do justice when trying to express how blessed we’ve been to have your continued love and support over the past 3 and half years. Thank you chef @fritzhansal for prepping, cooking and feeding us all on opening nights! At times you were working 6 day weeks, moving houses, building houses (haha) and everything in between, but you were always here dazzling us with your positive energy, love, passion, stories, and most importantly nourishing us all with your delicious plant-based offerings. Thank you @guyyy_guyyy for beautifully documenting our exhibitions! We are so grateful to have an archive of the wonderful things that have gone on inside these walls. Thank you for your time, help and support over the past year. We’re beyond thankful to have had an extra helper on board at a time when we needed it most Be back soon[ish] Leigh & Luisa 📷 : courtesy of @beautifulwaternymph + @the_horrible_horse 💘☀️🤍

Grace Hopton (@gracehopton ) Untitled Object Series (Home) Opening 10th February | 6-9pm 'Untitled Object Series' focuses on the consequences for women whose homes are lost due to factors such as domestic abuse, illness, breakdown of a relationship or financial pressure. Each element of this series has been translated from its domestic and utilitarian origin into another material form to convey meaning. The steel motif of the house represents the instability of many women’s living situations. The textile work uses table linen to convey the maxim not everyone is kind, some are cruel in fact. This serves to explore the cruel treatment experienced by women in unsafe domestic environments. The wooden spoons cast in bronze displayed on a concrete chopping block critique on the notion of the traditional kitchen and gendered role of the female as homemaker. The bottles moulded from antique liquor flagons and cast solidly act as motifs for domestic and substance abuse, a factor that puts many women at risk. As each of the objects and their meaning come to be read as one narrative, this body of work seeks to cast a spotlight on this issue and act as a platform that gives voice to a demographic which is often unheard and overlooked. ✿ Grace Hopton is a Boorloo (Perth) based artist who works with sculpture and spatial practice. Her work involves an exploration of material and objects to explore themes of gender, the domestic and the feminine. Hopton’s work focuses on materiality, form and balance. As such, her practice consists heavily of material exploration, manipulation, and the creation of objects to convey a narrative. Grace draws inspiration from objects and themes associated with the domestic setting and traditional female gender roles. She is interested in the process of dismantling traditional gender roles and norms through making. As well as using traditional sculptural materials, she engages with objects that hold utilitarian value and often explores materiality through industrial building materials. Her work often consists of textiles, cast objects, metal and readymades. Image courtesy of the artist.

Nina Raper (@nina.k.r ) A Quiet Inspection Opening 10th February | 6-9pm Nina Raper dissects the emotional baggage that comes with inviting an audience into her own private world. The feelings of embarrassment and shame that come from making art about personal trauma. Repetition is a vital part of Raper’s practice and is essential in expressing the continuous nature of these experiences as they exist in her mind on loop. Continuous actions, motions and marks represents art making as an act of persistence in search of a conclusion or resolution. The destruction and reconstruction of old artwork signifies a turning point in not only her practice but her approach to the role of art in her life. 'A Quiet Inspection' pokes and probes at unhealthy defence mechanisms in hopes of understanding the 'right way' to overcome trauma. Through performance, textiles, video and sculpture, Raper intimately stitches together moments of tenderness with self deprecation and a sense of humour. ✿ Nina Raper is an emerging artist based in Boorloo (Perth). She completed her BFA in 2021 at Curtin University. Raper’s practice concerns unpacking the multifaceted nature of misogyny in our digital age. She interrogates the archetypes of woman and girlhood demonstrated through popular culture and the western art cannon that inform her understanding her own identity. Her heavy process based and solely autobiographical practice takes the form of textiles, video, performance and sculpture. Image courtesy of the artist.
