On April 16th 2000, 20 years ago yesterday, the man who would eventually become the greatest quarterback to walk Planet Earth was drafted 199th by the New England Patriots in the NFL draft. In the subsequent years, their partnership has brought prosperity to the region. 17 divisional titles, 3 regular season MVPs, 4 Super Bowl MVPs, 14 pro bowl selections, 1 comeback player of the year award, and most notably, 6 championships. “Thank You Tom”

I used to gauge his mood by asking “Are there any sweet boys in here?” When I walked into a room he was in. He would respond with various No’s (High pitched yell, pissed off under the breath, defiant direct, all kinds). Then sometimes he’d respond with this one funny Yes. He’d give me a side eye look, taking a break from whatever he was doing, and almost dejected, through his teeth I’d hear, “ya, hi uncle Andrew.” Now he’s almost too big to pick up and made of only legs. Happy #6 to my favorite boy.
I was leaning with both elbows on the tile top of @jakecoucci Dads end table between the fairly newish couches reading the sports section of the standard times. The 2010 draft had just happened and after a Brady-less, playoff-less 2008 season and a wildcard loss to the Ravens 🙄 the previous season, the pats really needed to make a splash. First pick, CB from Rutgers. A CB FROM RUTGERS?! Wtf. Ok well we’re fucked. Moving on to pick 2. Huh. Ok. Moved up for a junior TE from Arizona who missed all of last season after back surgery. Yea we’re definitely fucked.
