Currently in After Painting After Painting: Pieter Chanterie His work ranges from miniature paintings on wood to site-specific murals, drawings, books, sculptures and automata. There’s a large focus on handcrafting the pieces and their materiality, but also on making the 2D or 3D object a window to elsewhere. He assembles the loaded tradition of painting with diverse present-day contexts and narratives to create an alternate heritage. This unfolds into a visual language which is a medley of contemporary and historical imagery, paraphrasing pop stars alongside illuminated manuscripts, infographics alongside folklore handicraft and reality TV alongside ancient frescoes. ‘Beauty Sleep Dropout’ ~ A portable frieze I made for ‘Artists Who wear Jewelry’, a group show organised by @mendeswooddm and curated by the sweet @kasperbosmans in the old church of Retranchement a couple of weeks ago. The frieze started where the gorgeous lilies of @tomhallet reached water level ~ I was inspired by the artwork on beautysalon-windows, telling tales of unparalleled elegance. Also by Thumbelina, who uses lily leafs as a stage and takes naps in shoes. 💋 photos by GRAYSC

✣ Next week, 26th of april until 28th of April it is the opening weekend of @borderbuda ! A big open air group exhibition in the industrial zone ‘Buda’.
