National Gallery Singapore is pleased to present the exhibition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2026, marking the first time the internationally renowned award is being presented in Southeast Asia. Opening to the public from 13 May to 14 June 2026, the exhibition brings together 30 finalists from 19 countries and regions, offering a rare opportunity to experience some of the most innovative and technically accomplished works in contemporary craft today. The presentation of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize at @nationalgallerysingapore reflects the Gallery’s ongoing commitment to positioning Southeast Asia within broader global conversations around art, material culture, and artistic exchange. As the home of the world’s largest public collection of modern and contemporary Southeast Asian art, the Gallery has long championed artists and practices that challenge conventional distinctions between art, design, and craft, while foregrounding the region’s rich histories of making and material knowledge. The presentation of the Prize in Singapore also acknowledges Southeast Asia’s longstanding and deeply influential craft traditions. Across the region, practices such as weaving, ceramics, metalwork, basketry, lacquer, and textile-making continue to shape both cultural identity and contemporary artistic production. Just Announced! 🎙✨ @maxmara , @collezione_maramotti and @museummacan are thrilled to announce that Dian Suci has been named the winner of the tenth edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women (2025–2027). The winner was announced today by @ceciliaalemani , curator of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women and chair of the jury, together with Sara Piccinini, Director of Collezione Maramotti, Venus Lau, Director of Museum MACAN, and Elia Maramotti, representative of the family that founded Max Mara and Collezione Maramotti, in conjunction with the opening of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. Chosen by a jury chaired by Cecilia Alemani and made up of Museum MACAN Director @venuslauhk , curator Amanda Ariawan, gallerist Megan Arlin, collector Evelyn Halim and artist Melati Suryodarmo, Dian Suci stood out from a shortlist of five exceptional Indonesian artists for her project Crafting Spirit: Cultural Dialogues in Heritage and Practice, a project born from her desire to explore the fallout of the encounter between religious artisan traditions and the capitalist system, through a comparative study of Italy and Indonesia. Suci’s practice, rooted in her experience as a single mother and in the intersection of domestic life and state power, moves across installation, painting, sculpture and video. Her residency in Italy, from Assisi to Rome, Lecce and Florence, will lay the groundwork for a new body of work presented first at Museum MACAN in Jakarta at the beginning of 2027, and subsequently at Collezione Maramotti. Huge congratulations, Dian! 👏 📸 1. Portrait of Dian Suci. 2. Portrait of Cecilia Alemani. 3. (From left): Portrait of Venus Lau, Dian Suci, Sara Piccinini and Cecilia Alemani 4. Opening Today at 2.30 pm! 🇵🇦 @panamapavilion presents Tropical Hyperstition by Antonio José Guzmán and Iva Jankovic — Messengers of the Sun, Panama’s second participation in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, In Minor Keys, curated by Koyo Kouoh. At the heart of the space, a monumental 20-metre hammock unfolds as suspended architecture, living archive and threshold — weaving together Indigenous knowledge, Afro-Caribbean practices and histories of displacement. Soundscape, textile collage and translucent printed images form a sensorial cartography that connects historical records of the former Canal Zone to contemporary languages reinterpreting these archives. The official opening is accompanied by the performance Occupied Dub Frequencies vs. the Eviction Engine, in which the body becomes an instrument of measurement, resistance and reconstruction — bringing together Messengers of the Sun with dancers from Puppets Family Dance Academy and Helly (Elisa Montin) on drums. Curated by Ana Elizabeth González and Mónica Kupfer. On view until 22 November. 📍 Tesa 42, Arsenale Militare, Venice — not the easiest spot to find! Opening Soon: Melas Martinos in Athens present Neocolor by David Weiss 🎉 🗓️27 May - 12 September 2026 Opening: 27 May, 6-9PM Melas Martinos is pleased to present a selection of works from the Neocolor series by Swiss artist David Weiss (1946-2012) produced between 1977 and 1978. In these works on paper, the artist first applied fields and stripes using Neocolor wax crayons, then coated the surface with black paint and scraped away the top layer with a fine nib in a grattage technique to reveal the underlying composition of bold, vivid strokes and lines. Revealed from a dark overlay, the colourful motifs vary from playful abstraction to figuration, collectively shaping a series of different nightscape scenes. During a time when Weiss was living on Zähringerstrasse in Zurich’s Niederdorf neighborhood, the series captured the emerging ‘counter-public’ subculture within Zurich’s art scene, reflecting the energy, desires, and ambitions long constrained by the rigid norms of the city’s public spaces. @melasmartinos is an art gallery located in the historic centre of Athens, housed in a restored early twentieth-century building overlooking the Acropolis. Grounded in research, cataloguing, and archival engagement, the gallery produces exhibitions that create resonant encounters between contemporary and historical practices, often foregrounding artists and positions that have been overlooked, marginalised, or insufficiently studied. 📸 David Weiss, Untitled, 1978, Wax pastel on paper, 12 × 21 cm 📸 David Weiss, Untitled, 1978, Wax pastel on paper, 10 × 17 cm 📸 Gallery View, Melas Martinos. Opening today at @gallerieditalia in Naples✨ @intesasanpaolo presents at Gallerie d’Italia – Naples, from 6 May to 6 September 2026, the exhibition ‘OBEY: Power to the Peaceful’ curated by Giuseppe Pizzuto and dedicated to Shepard Fairey, internationally known as Obey (@obeygiant ). Shepard Fairey (Charleston, USA, 1970) is one of the most influential artists in the contemporary urban art scene. Emerging from skate culture and the underground graphic scene of the 1990s, the OBEY project has developed into one of the most recognisable visual languages in global public art. Featuring 150 works including iconic pieces, 15 previously unseen works and rare archival materials, the exhibition unfolds across four main thematic sections: ‘People Power’, ‘Propaganda’, ‘War and Peace’, and ‘Social Justice’. Through an immediate and highly iconic visual language, the works invite visitors to question the mechanisms that shape contemporary society, from the construction of consensus to forms of collective participation. The exhibition stems from the urgent need to reflect on one of the most crucial issues of our time: peace as an active choice and a shared responsibility. At a time marked by conflict, geopolitical tensions and profound social transformations, Obey’s work invites us to envision new spaces for dialogue, solidarity and change. Obey’s exhibition at the Gallerie d’Italia will be accompanied by a twofold initiative involving the city’s urban fabric. 📍On view from 6 May to 6 September 2026 at Gallerie d’Italia - Naples. 📸 ‘OBEY: POWER TO THE PEACEFUL’ , 2026. Now Open at @collezione_maramotti ! For Heaven’s truth, his first solo exhibition in Italy, the French artist Ndayé Kouagou brings together recent works and a new series of pieces created specifically for the occasion - a project born from the narrative language of photo comics and unfolding across video, three-dimensional elements and wall pieces. At the heart of the show is a three-chapter video in which Kouagou himself guides us through the adventures of four universal “types” - canine and human, masked and exposed - whose fates intertwine in a hypothetical Heaven that mirrors the dilemmas and power dynamics of the world below. Wry, disorienting and deeply theatrical, the work is the axis from which everything else radiates. Kouagou’s practice lives in language: texts that feel familiar, jumbled and sardonic all at once, becoming the catalyst for videos, installations and performances that slowly, forcefully reveal how unstable words really are, how meaning shifts, slips and deceives. Through monologues, dialogues and statements that resist any clear definition, he probes truth (real, potential or imaginary), vulnerability and the paradoxes of our shared present, taking visitors on a journey with no fixed destination, where every landmark appears hazy or completely illogical. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with Festival Fotografia Europea 2026, Ghosts of the Moment. 🗓 On view 3 May - 26 July 2026 📍 Collezione Maramotti, via Fratelli Cervi 66, Reggio Emilia, Italy 📷 1, 2, 3, 4, Ndayé Kouagou, Heaven’s truth 2026 Exhibition view © Ndayé Kouagou Ph. OPEN TODAY ✨ 10 years of The Feuerle Collection are celebrated with a special anniversary exhibition with Adam Fuss, positioned in dialogue with a rare Renaissance drawing attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. Spanning centuries, the exhibition reflects a shared sensibility: the quiet power of presence, the sensuality of perception, and the timeless act of capturing a moment. This milestone also marks a new chapter as the institution evolves into Feuerle Puig House - continuing its vision as a space for contemplation, cross-cultural exchange, and deeply personal encounters with art. On view until 26 July 2026. “[Art] holds the power to spark and set movement in action. With the potential to communicate beyond the rational, art equips the community with a vigorous tool more valuable for those who know its wisdom than those who simply own art. In the times we live together now, the arts have the power to connect, to mourn, reflect and to heal. Many minor changes can shift massive things.” Next week, the Swiss Pavilion unveils The Unfinished Business of Living Together, a project conceived by curators Gianmaria Andreetta and Luca Beeler with artist Nina Wakeford and developed alongside Miriam Laura Leonardi, Lithic Alliance, and Yul Tomatala. Starting from a landmark 1978 episode of the Swiss TV programme Telearena, where homosexuality was debated live on air, the project reactivates the archive as a living space—one where voices emerge, collide, and reshape public narratives. Echoing later broadcasts like Agora (1984), it reflects on who is allowed to speak, and who is heard. Through an immersive spatial video installation blending archival footage with new images and sound, the Pavilion unfolds as a dynamic environment where memory, media, and lived experience intersect, opening up questions around visibility, intimacy, and representation. 📍Pavilion of Switzerland, Giardini della Biennale, Venice 9 May — 22 November 2026 Pre-opening: 6–8 May 2026 Opening Ceremony: 7 May 2026, 14:30 Media Moment: 6 May 2026, 15:00 #BiennaleArte2026 #SwissPavilion #UBOLT #VeniceBiennale #ProHelvetia

‘Thomas Houseago. Sculptures.’ opens in a secret garden in Madrid. To mark its centenary, @bancamarch opens its garden in Madrid for the very first exhibition in Spain by the artist. “As a sculptor, I try to translate my thoughts and energy into an inert material and imbue it with truth and form, and I believe there is nothing more profound than achieving that.” —Thomas Houseago The exhibition, which opens to the public on 1 May, underlines the commitment of Banca March to culture and art while commemorating its 100-year history with a celebration of its origins and its vision for renewal and growth, both reflected in the motto chosen to celebrate its centenary, A Future with History. Among the pieces that will form part of the exhibition are the monumental ‘Large Walking Figure I (Leeds)’, 2013, almost five metres tall, and the recent ‘Janus-Mirror-Figure’, 2025, which exemplifies the intersection of primitive influences and contemporary language that characterises the work of the artist. Anne Pontégnie, the exhibition’s curator, notes: “At the heart of his practice lies the human figure. The sculptor constructs fragmented bodies, marked surfaces, and open structures that make the creative process visible. Often incomplete, broken, or hollow, his figures and masks convey vulnerability and resilience. Their scale allows them to shape and activate space, directly engaging the viewer, while their fragility lends them emotional and existential depth.” This emphasis on the human and the connection between legacy and innovation resonates with Banca March’s own trajectory. Houseago’s honest and direct sculptural language connects with the institution’s century-old philosophy: a family-owned institution, now in its fourth generation, whose model has taken shape in a corporate culture of strong values such as commitment, high standards, effort, integrity, and ambition. #art #culture #thomashouseago #artinnature
