“What remains after a war?”
This question is driving Fiorella Costantini’s journey in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was our absolute honor and pleasure to welcome her at Kuma International and support her very important work. Here are her words:
“For my project Stories of Legacy, I met young women and men who shared with me their stories of family, belonging, faith, wounds, ambitions, and hopes for the future. Each with their own voice, history, and contradictions.
Through their stories, I discovered a complex country full of strength, clarity, and a desire for change, where memory is not just inherited - it is lived, questioned, and transformed.
Some have stayed to rebuild, others dream of leaving; some believe in dialogue between differences, while others feel the need to protect their identity. None of these stories fit into a single narrative. In all, I found deep, sometimes uncomfortable, but always authentic reflections.
I’ve learned that memory is never neutral, it can become a tool for listening, care, and transformation.
These photos are a glimpse of what I experienced.
A heartfelt thanks to
@kuma_international and
@culturemoveseurope /
@goetheinstitut for their trust and support, without which this journey and research could not have begun.”
Thank you
