Hugely excited to announce that @TomHobdenstudio and @PhoebeStapleton have been selected for a creative commission that celebrates the 250th anniversary of John Constable’s birth, a partnership between the National Trust in Flatford and @Essexcdp Cultural Diversity Project. The Rivers and Skies will invite diverse audiences from across the generations to tell or imagine their life stories through the metaphors of rivers and sky, drawing a parallel with John Constable’s way of seeing landscape as an emotional record Participants will explore their stories through drawing, film, movement, writing, and sound. We will then transform these stories into an immersive, multi-sensory installation at Flatford; a patchwork of projections, soundscape, and immersive visual design which will become a bridge between two worlds, and a connecting message of the significance of who we are, where we live and how we create. It will be a pocket of digital magic in the heart of John Constable’s home. We cannot wait to tell you more, do follow along for more news! The Rivers and Skies is made possible through a co-commission from the National Trust, and Essex Cultural Diversity Project supported by Arts Council England. It's sunny and warm, so there's no better time to introduce @phoebestapleton . Movement director, dancer, educator, and all-round creative heroine! It is my absolute pleasure to work alongside Phoebe on many new projects (look out for 2026). Her eye, storytelling, and creativity are gold standard, and after a good year of planning and playing, it's time for projects to start revealing themselves to the public. So Insta, meet Phoebe, and Phoebe, meet the @tomhobdenstudio gang. Here's to a year of play and joy!

Life as a self-producing artist can be constantly changing. Since September 2025, I have been head down in bid writing, but with spring arriving, I’m about to switch to making time, especially after some funding success! @suffolkcountycouncilofficial culture project fund has awarded me, @phoebestapleton , and partnership with @suffolk_community_libraries , a super amount of money to work with communities across Sudbury and Haverhill on a magical miniature projection mapping project. So much news to follow on this! For now, a huge thank you to the panel for believing in our ideas, we can't wait to reveal more soon.

Next week we’re leading two workshops at the Brontë Parsonage Museum — the house where Charlotte Brontë grew up, surrounded by the natural world that shaped her imagination and inspired Jane Eyre. In partnership with Bradford 2025 City of Culture and Arts Council England, we’re welcoming pupils from Lees Primary and Haworth Primary for Dyslexic Strengths and the World of Jane Eyre — a movement-led workshop, inspired by our world premiere of John Joubert’s Jane Eyre opera. Created and led by @phoebestapleton alongside @maricamiloti and @eleanorjoyburke . Together, we’ll ignite creativity through movement and dyslexic strengths, opening gentle new doorways into story and opera.

This summer, I attended the 13 Week Seedbed inclusivity training with Stopgap Dance Company. I am so lucky that my work lets me move with and create alongside so many unique and brilliant people. I’m always searching for new ways to shape movement so it truly meets and makes way for the individuality of the incredible performers, creators, artists, humans I get to work with. It was also great to learn more about a company I’ve admired for so long. X

An incredible opportunity to be a Choreographer for the Ideas Incubator Lab co-curated by @englishnationalballet and @chisenhaledance at Mulryan Centre for Dance. Thank you to everyone who made this possible, and love to all those I had the privilege to move with! x This lab focused on developing disability-led, inclusive and integrated practice. As part of it, I continued working on a movement piece I began a few years ago, which centres the world around the neurodivergent child’s perspective. A big question I kept coming back to was: What moves you? The meaning of this question keeps shifting. Often, it’s been about the joy of movement and its potential to transcend communication barriers. But right now, it feels more urgent. The proposed changes to Access to Work threaten the future of disability employment, inclusive leadership, and our wider cultural sector. So I’m holding that question What moves you? As a reminder of why this matters. I know our weeks are busy, but if you can, please write to your MP and speak up for the value disabled creatives bring to our cultural sector and society. And if writing’s not your thing, you can add your name to this brilliant open letter: tinyurl.com/AtWLetter #ProtectATW

@kimberley.j.harvey a true leader and champion of all. After quietly following Kimberley’s work for years, it was so special to be mentored by her as part of the Ideas Incubator created by @englishnationalballet and @chisenhaledance Kimberley carves out unique paths while gently making space for others to do the same. She leads with creativity, integrity, and the kind of kindness that stays with you. Powerful & uniquely inspiring. X
