Cosa significa raccontare un anno di fotografia contemporanea accettandone anche le parti non finite, aperte, in trasformazione? Mercoledì 13 maggio alle 17:30, la Sala della Cultura di Palazzo Pepoli ospita la presentazione di “Imperfetto”, il primo numero dell’Annual di @phmuseum 📸 📖 Una pubblicazione di 292 pagine che attraversa dodici mesi di ricerca visiva: portfolio, conversazioni, mostre, approfondimenti curatoriali e strumenti pratici per leggere la fotografia contemporanea da vicino. Il titolo, Imperfetto, gioca su un doppio significato: il tempo verbale di un’azione che continua nel passato e, insieme, ciò che resta incompleto, non ideale, non risolto. Her practice is drawn to a notion proposed by Erika Fischer–Lichte in Aesthetics of the Performative: "Instead of creating works, artists produce events in which not only themselves are involved, but also the recipients, the observers, listeners and spectators. With this, the conditions of artistic production and reception are modified in a crucial aspect." Admission is free. In the main space, ceramics and prints appear like fragments of memory, subtle impressions of moments that linger. Projected across three screens, photographs and videos appear and disappear, creating a constant exchange. SAVE THE DATE 🫎 Hans – or – Don’t Bury Me In The Grave Of My Father by @peter.pflugler will open on 28 November at @phmuseumlab . It all begins with a found archive. Over a thousand negatives were left by Hans, the great-granduncle Peter Pflügler never knew, who died at the age of 86 after an attempt at taking his own life. In response, Peter begins taking new photographs and embarks on an almost investigative search: Who was this man? Why was he continually marginalized and then forgotten? Where did his last wish – not to be buried in the grave of his father – originate from, and why was it never fulfilled? The images shape a different narrative of Hans’s life, celebrating his figure and legacy in all their strength, while an alternative, possible ending begins to take shape. The project, which is currently still ongoing, began during the 2024/25 edition of Criticae, @phmuseum ’s Online Masterclass On Documentary Photography led by @elsmdd and @laura_el_tantawy . What a lovely evening 💚📐Thanks to all friends who joined us at @phmuseumlab for the opening of Lucija Rosc’s Six Stations and a Golden Tooth! The show presents her work across six stations, which display different layers of her research. Visitors can follow a thread on the floor and follow the progressive order - or simply break the rule and move around. From the story of a tooth exchange at Station 1 to a vinyl engraved with grandma Mica reading her collection of jokes at Station 6, the exhibition stimulates a reflection on how family values and the school system education influence the person we are today – while remembering the importance of playing and sharing. @lucijarosc ’s solo show Six Stations and a Golden Tooth will open at @phmuseumlab in Bologna, Italy, on Thursday 5 June as a result of the PhMuseum 2024 Women Photographers Grant 🎯 Which are the dynamics entangling generations and what is left of them when the elders leave? How can we carry the legacy of those we love into the future? How much of who we are derives from the education we had at home and that of our school system? Lucija Rosc offers no answer to these questions. They are rather a trigger to develop her research through playful, ambitious, and sometimes desperate attempts to understand. Her allies are her grandparents, who have a strong influence on her practice and embrace her mission. Their dialogue is open and rules-less. Most importantly, it is the vehicle through which they share their respective points of views, they exchange roles, and break generational boundaries.
