Six weeks or so before the release of our debut album on Freaksville, Amamikyu bloom like a flower under the Full Moon with a new expanded line up. We’ve been tending to the garden well and we’re very excited to play! With a strong pop sensibility, Amamikyu experiment with traditional Okinawan festival music and other East Asian influences, fired up in a kitchen of funky electronic rock psychedelia.
2026 - this is the year I become a youthful and healthy 60 year old ( on the whole, though some parts of me would disagree ) and in a few weeks, I become a Grand Dad. I have a lot of art and music in the can to give out to the world this year and I’m thankful to have the time, resources, and a deeper creative impulse than ever to explore even further into the future. I’m also literally counting down the days to my free Oyster card and London travel liberation. My favourite New Years yet! To my rationale, time is nothing more than an abstract device to measure things moving in space and I am happy and amazed to still be moving in space. 🥳 2026
With the aid of @yuko.tsubame , master Shansin player and vocalist, my long time fascination with East Asian music as avant-garde fusion has manifested with Amamikyu, named after the mythical goddess of Okinawa, and our album will be released through the capable hands of @freaksvillerecords as a deluxe gatefold coloured vinyl sometime in late Spring 2026. Featuring our colleague @shokoasaga with guest artists @clementinemarch and @benjaminschoos . We look forward greatly to playing some magic shows next year and the release of this beautiful colourful record.

From my walk just now across NE London to pick up a mother load of free cereal on Olio. This is perfectly timed to keep in a bowl beside my computer as I quit smoking. On the way across town I came upon a resting bus making the coolest drone sounds. Also more AI pictures I generated this morning of Owls with Synthesizers - I feel like over the winter I should make that Owlbum, complete the trinity, make it a thing. It has to be a very smart record.
