Look who turned up to Future Movers at the weekend 👀
We get lots of well-known guests down at
@officialronnies , but if there’s ever a lesson in what being a role model actually looks like, it’s this.
We had no idea
@yungblud was in the room until the break in our set, when he went around to find as many band members as possible and thank us for the performance.
He didn’t need to. No one would’ve expected it. But that’s the point.
That kind of supportive energy matters. It’s a reminder that if you’ve got any kind of platform, even a small one, you can choose to use it positively, and his actions set a standard for us all to follow.
When he thanked me, I took the chance to return it, on behalf of all the musicians he’s supporting, and the hundreds of thousands of people he’s working tirelessly for, in an attempt to make live music more financially accessible through
@bludfest .
It feels quite fitting that he ended up at Future Movers - a night all about celebrating the next generation of UK jazz talent, where we create a space where people feel valued, break down the barriers to the music and try to help move things toward however we can.
He won’t see this, but those little moments create a ripple, and if enough of us act the same, society becomes that little bit better.
Huge gratitude to
@george.johnson.sax @olliecanham @ameliawilding_ and
@isaacjdrums for their incredible musicianship this weekend - they played two packed out shows and brought the house down 🙏
