TALK - PERSONAL PROJECTS
MAKE THE WORK AND GET IT SEEN
Wednesday 22nd April 7pm (uk time) I’m presenting an online talk for the @rpscontemporary tomorrow. I’ll be sharing strategies for turning personal work into exhibitions, awards, commissions, publications and photobooks. Using my projects, 100 Women of Oxford, and Once a Slag as examples, I’ll explain what worked, what didn’t, and how to build momentum.
If you’d like to join, drop me a dm and I’ll share the zoom link

A portrait of three Oxford University students at Port Meadow.
This was the first portrait out of fourteen that I was commissioned to make to celebrate 50 years of coeducation at Jesus College in Oxford.
I was excited, but also quite anxious as I knew the results from this session would set the tone for the whole series.
When I first meet who I’m photographing I like to make time to play, to see how one moves, interacts and responds to me, my camera and in this case to each other. It took me a while to reach this point, I kept trying different shapes, and compositions, but once I took this I knew it was the one, and for it to set the tone for the rest of the project.
Photography looks so simple.
