This is a Wipers / Greg Sage appreciation post.
Wipers have always been in my top-5 ever changing list of favorite bands/artists. I first heard about them via D-7, a Nirvana cover as a B side track on Lithium single (i still consider it one of the best recorded Nirvana songs, also one of the very first songs i learned to play on guitar 🥴🤡😎). Greg Sage’s music spoke louder than any trend or any marketing strategy and imho Wipers are one of the finest examples of (American Punk) music with their exemplary ethos, raw energy but most importantly, their inimitable soul. They taught me at a very tender age that the most punk thing of all is that it’s ok to be sensitive. Phase! (my record release output), started as a zine first and one of my life defining experiences is that Greg gave me an interview back then. I still can’t believe it. The vast majority of artists would think of that as a waste of time. He didn’t. 🙏✨ @jackpotrecords does a great job of keeping these recordings alive and not feeding to the record collector ridiculous game, so kudos to them. Greg Sage hopefully is alive and well somewhere in Phoenix, we don’t have to lose a person just to value them. Keep embracing your heroes when they are still safe and sound. My eternal gratitude to him for lazerbeaming me human. Greg, you are a unique alien 👽
My dear friend Fil Kaponis (Kooba Tercu) just launched a recording project called Odeon Takes, which curates raw 20-minute studio sessions from the Athens underground, recorded fast and mixed for flow. I’m more than happy to contribute to two of the first volumes with my two new bands, in both of which i share guitar duties 🎸💥 The first one is called Shared Feedback and also includes Fil on drums and Nina Polutimou (The Periods) on bass 🖤🖤🖤 The second one is CDS333 and this one is along @cosmic7871 on bass and @taylorissavage on CD players 💿💿💿 Be sure to check Odeon Takes on bandcamp to listen to those. Lots of local heroes already on other releases like @angeloskyriou , @canyonair , @de.santis.daniele just to name a few and more to definitely show up soon!
Next up on our series of secret shows, we are thrilled to welcome @_c_i_t_i_z_e_n_r_y_ (CA), the solo outfit of Mike Wallace, founding member of Preoccupations, Women and others and his pulsating percussion-centric songwriting
Setting the tone for the night, local noise post punk crazies @sclavosband . We can’t wait for this one

Whimm perform in Athens for the first time, supporting their new release “Not My Kind ll”. Live, the duo will play a corroded medley of every genre and emotion that they can fit into 45 minutes. Forcing you to get it.

Sclavos mess with an exonerated post-punk glitch and their shows glamorously flirt with a meditating exploit through the exploration of the limits of the self. Cacophonous and edgy, nasty and audacious, they project the primordial basis of cathartic rock music to a post-apocalyptic, toxic sound annihilation.
