The Petrie Museum is devastated to learn of the sudden death of John J. Johnston, a long-term friend to the Museum and collaborator of many years. We extend our deepest condolences to John’s family at this sad time. John was dedicated to the research of LGBTQ+ histories in ancient Egypt, and he shared his enthusiasm for this subject widely, including at the Petrie Museum: https://bit.ly/467xi8F Photo: © Mike Oscar

When was the last time you broke something? Was it accidental or on purpose? Across ancient Egypt, people broke, buried, and even burned objects - not by accident, but deliberately and with deep meaning. Come explore our new display, ‘Broken, Burnt, Buried’. Link in bio for more information.
