Congratulations to the cast and crew of @heatedrivalrytv on 18 Canadian Screen Awards nominations - including composer @peterpeteroffcl for Best Original Music (Drama) and Best Original Music (Original Song) for “It’s You” 🎵
Before @heatedrivalrycrave became an international sensation, award-winning Canadian writer, director, and producer @jacob.tierney was listening to Quebecois artist and composer @peterpeteroffcl 's 'Éther' while working on the series' script.
Impressed by Peter's ability to blend melody-driven songwriting with atmospheric, synth-forward textures, Tierney asked Peter to score the series.
Neither of them had any idea just how big this series would become.
Now, two weeks since Peter's scoring debut, featuring 34 tracks including the double single “Rivalry / It’s You," which debuted on Billboard, Peter shares five records that have inspired him over the years.
The 'Heated Rivalry (Original Series Soundtrack)' will be available via @milanrecords later this year. Link in bio to be notified about the physical release date.

Music is key to the Heated Rivalry phenomenon. Many of the songs on the soundtrack are by Canadian and Québécois artists like Wolf Parade, Feist, Dumas, Unessential Oils, Lou Phelps and Night Lunch. But no musician is more intrinsically tied to Heated Rivalry than Quebec City singer-songwriter Peter Peter, who composed the score for the series at the request of the show’s creator, director and executive producer Jacob Tierney.
We spoke with Peter Peter about this life-changing gig — his very first composition for film or TV, which was released by Milan Records via Sony Music Canada last month.

Before 'Heated Rivalry,' Peter Jones (who is credited on the series under his stage name, Peter Peter) had five albums to his name and zero credits as a composer, but series creator @jacob.tierney was a huge fan and wrote the scripts while listening to the singer-songwriter’s 2024 record 'Éther'.
Like seemingly every facet of the show’s production, the timeline for the score was daunting. “I had ten days to deliver episode one,” he says. “So you can imagine it was seven to ten days an episode — approximately seven weeks to complete the whole show.” Tierney gave Jones freedom to experiment, but they remained in constant conversation: The composer uploaded mp4 drafts to a shared Google Drive folder for swift feedback. “To this day, I don’t know if that’s how TV composers work, but we had no time, so I couldn’t just send him temporary files,” Jones says. For a first-time composer, 'Heated Rivalry' was a turbocharged trial by fire, one that Jones wouldn’t have any other way: “It’s a hell of a first gig.”
