Pink cotton lawn dress designed by yours truly!
I patterned and sewed it from scratch. Despite many fit and construction issues, I got the job done! I used dart manipulation to flat pattern the dress, adjusting my slopers to Eliza’s (educatedly guessed) measurements. I had to guess with measurements, so the top seams were bound in case they needed to be adjusted, and the skirt seams were French seamed. The dress was lined with a silk satin for the bodice and cotton lawn-batiste for the skirt. No synthetic fabrics were used and every fabric was difficult to work with due to how lightweight they were. The very top had a muslin interlining and elastic for support. The invisible zipper and lining were hand sewn to the dress.

Space top + pants for MODA’s “Written In The Stars”
I patterned the top myself to Derek’s measurements. Three layers of fabric and slashing as a fabric manipulation technique were used for that galactic look/texture. I left the back un-slashed for time but also to display how cool the texture of the satin + lace was just by itself. I put in the slightest shoulder and chest padding for smoothness/structure and a better lay. I added a side zipper and a lace up back closure. My only wish is the top was lined for a cleaner finish especially with how messy the slashing gets at the end, but I had no time or fabric left for that to work.
I adjusted the pants pattern to Derek’s measurements and patterned a box pleat at the center front for interest, then added a reflective silver fabric on the side for flare to add drama and balance out the volume at the top of the pants that the pleat created. I then patterned a waistband which was sewn from the space fabric that I used for the top for more unity and interest.

Everything below the waistband was hand sewn! I spent hours sewing with different hand embroidery/mending techniques, both visible and invisible.
