Peter Deckers‘ (@peter_deckers ), work addresses the disparity between perceived and actual value. His practice reflects a broader cultural condition: the rise of hyper-reality, in which truth and fiction are increasingly indistinct—mirroring the spread of fake news and propaganda presented as fact.
By using ethically sourced, low-value materials, Deckers challenges conventional notions of worth. The value of each piece is not financial, but conceptual—emerging through skilled craftsmanship and critical engagement with contemporary social issues.
Thank you, Peter Deckers, for your thought-provoking contribution to SCHMUCK 2025.

FR 31 Jan 5:30pm LECTURE by jewellery artist Iris Eichenberg, OBJECTSPACE, Auckland
"Some Things Do Get Better" will contemplate what it means to become an artist; the successes and the failures, the insights gained along the way, the importance of process, and the need to respond to shifting contexts and changing environments.
Having moved her practice from the Netherlands to the United States of America 13 years ago, Eichenberg considers working and living in different worlds to be both a gift and a loss.
The opportunity to distance herself from understanding a particular notion of taste has provided her with the space to contradict herself and to keep on raising questions about making and being. There is beauty in growing older and trusting a sense of productive confusion. Some things do get better.
