ALFRED is an award-winning short documentary from the edge of the Arctic Circle. The film follows Alfred, an elderly Norwegian deeply rooted in Sami culture - an indigenous community that has long faced persecution and still lives on the margins of society. For over a decade, Alfred has lived in near-total isolation on the remote Seglvik peninsula, surrounded by extreme cold, snow, ice, and silence. A former chef and restaurant owner, Alfred now spends his days fishing and cooking with local ingredients, far away from cities, social media, and modern distractions. Created by Black Corridor with a minimal crew and shot under harsh Arctic conditions, the film is an intimate portrait of solitude, resilience, and a life lived by tradition. After a long and successful festival run, ALFRED is finally out. Thanks for everyone involved! Enjoy! Director’s Note: "This project began as a desire to return to Norway after a first journey years before that left a lasting impression. Wanting to step away from commercial work, we set out as a small two-person team toward the Arctic Circle with no clear concept and no protagonist. What followed were extreme conditions: temperatures down to –30°C, limited daylight, isolation from the outside world, and physically demanding days on rough waters. Our greatest fortune was meeting Alfred. Gaining his trust took time, but his openness, resilience, and way of life shaped the film profoundly. Being disconnected from phones, social media, and everyday noise changed my perspective. Working with Alfred reminded me to focus on what truly matters - and to see the world a little differently."
