Telling stories in the mountains, it’s a challenge, but one full of rewards! A few years ago, we got the pleasure of capturing @mattsuessphoto in his element, shooting amazing landscapes in a gorgeous corner of our home state, Stanley Idaho. We hiked trails to mountain tops, rode mountain bikes with cameras and gear on our backs, and spent long days, early morning, and sleepless nights to convey the beauty around us. Shot on the @omsystem.cameras , we were able to move fast and light, to chase the views and places that were far reaching. The end result was an amazing glimpse into Matt’s story, and his art of capturing this world. It took lots of effort and hard work to pull off this shoot, but thanks to a solid team, we made it happen! @michaelbonocore - Producer / photographer @wildernesspro (Micah Ness) - Director / Timelapse / Camera Op @josiahness - DP / Camera Op @joel.ackerman - Audio / Grip @prezmedia - Robert Perez - Editor / Colorist @paigeschreiber_ Production Coordinator You can view the full length film on the PetaPixel YouTube channel. #landscape #landscapephotography

Here’s the scoop on the new @sonyalpha A7RVI + 100-400mm f/4.5 GM lens announced earlier today! I have been super impressed with this camera so far and can very much *feel* the upgrade in both software and hardware compared to the A7RV. The camera is available for pre-order starting today for $4,499 USD, and if you’re in NYC, you can come try the camera for yourself at the Alpha in Residence event on the upper east side tomorrow and Friday this week.

Towards the end of our trip in Japan, I spent an entire day with the @tamronamericas 35-100mm f/2.8 lens and was really happy with how small and light it was! If you know me, you know I love zoom lenses, and this one actually felt much smaller (but still covered more focal length) than my usual zoom lenses 👀 If you’re in the market for a travel zoom lens that won’t break the bank, this would be a great one to consider!

A few months ago, @jaronschneider and I explored Hokkaido Japan for a whole week, and I made a whole YouTube video about all the cities we visited! The entire video + all photos were shot on the @sonyalpha a7V. It’s out on YouTube on the @petapixel page if you wanna watch it 🙂

Memory prices right now are actually insane!! The exact same drive that I bought this time last year is more than 3x the price today (thanks a lot, AI 👎) For a decent and reliable 4TB drive, you’re looking at spending at least $1000-$1200 *minimum*, but for just a few extra hundred dollars, you could get an 8TB @glyphtech Atom EX40 — that’s double the amount of storage but not double the price! This thing is super reliable, fast, it travels well, and it’s not going to die on you when you actually need it. Memory costs are soooo ridiculous right now and unfortunately we can’t control that. But what we CAN control is whether you actually get your money’s worth. So choose wisely!

I spent an entire day in Tokyo with just the Fujifilm X-E5 + @tamronamericas 17-70mm f/2.8 and it was honestly all I needed! Being a 25-105mm full-frame equivalent, I loved having one lens that could capture both wide scenes and more compressed ones too. Especially with a smaller body like the X-E5, the whole kit was small and easy for me to carry around all day 🤠

I recently used the OM-3 while I was out in Japan and here are some reasons I love this camera: 🎨 the creative dial lets me program my own recipes, which makes it really easy for me to quickly edit photos on my computer later 🤏 I love that the OM-3 is so small and light, it makes me want to use it all the time ☔️ and lastly, it’s also fully weather sealed so I know I don’t have to worry about it in unpredictable weather check out @omsystem.cameras @omsystem.americas for more info and let me know if you have any questions about the OM-3 in particular!!

Some of my favourite shots taken in San Francisco on the Nikon F4. I loved having this storied camera back in my hands after so long, and if you get a chance, please watch my love letter to the F4 on the PetaPixel channel. Some of theses shots are horizontals cropped annoyingly by Instagram but I hope you enjoy. #nikonf4 #sanfranciscophotography #analog35mm

This new camera strap is made from a train seat!! 🚆💺 If you’ve ever been to Japan, you’ve probably ridden on a train at some point, because trains are such an integral part of Japanese culture and life. Now imagine being able to carry a piece of that culture with you! Ricoh Pentax recently released these limited-edition camera straps using upcycled fabric from actual retired train cars. We’ve been told that the fabric has been thoroughly cleaned and then handed off to artisans to sew the fabric into straps. I absolutely love that the texture and pattern of the fabric has been fully retained and they are just so cute and nostalgic! They only made 230 of these straps in each color which are being sold exclusively at the Pentax Clubhouse in Tokyo for around $60 USD per strap. I’m having a really hard time picking which one I want so let me know which color you like better in the comments!! @ricohjapan.official @pentax_us @pentax.jp
