Directed by Pluribus‘ Adam Bernstein, Bender is based on the late-’70s, post-punk Dublin coming-of-age experiences of Adrian Cunningham, who penned the script with Ciaran Bartlett. Set against the frenzy surrounding an impending papal visit, the story follows a suburban Dublin family navigating mounting financial pressures amid a bleak economic recession.
Ruth plays a sharp-tongued, no-nonsense matriarch trying to keep her family together and neighborhood gossip at bay while her husband Tom, played by O’Dowd, wrestles with joblessness and wounded pride.

Jimmy Akingbola (Bel-Air) and Fra Fee (Unchosen) join the main cast alongside the previously announced Andrea Riseborough and Ashley Walters in ITV and ZDF’s space mystery First Woman.
The series, from Lydia Yeoman and George Oakes, follows Claire Reith (Riseborough), a biologist in a groundbreaking research project and the first woman to set foot on the moon, who disappears, throwing suspicion on her fellow astronauts and a rival Chinese base. Thousands of miles away on Earth, her husband, Ben (Walters), searches for the truth. The action switches between Mission Control and the lunar surface as the race against time builds.
Jimmy plays astronaut Dr Henry Evans, in charge of the nuclear reactor that sustains life on the moon, while Fra plays astronaut Dr Declan McAllister, whose bullish demeanour puts him at loggerheads with Claire.
