🥁✨ This past weekend, Perrot Library was filled with rhythm, movement, and celebration during our Africa Is Me! Interactive African Drum & Dance Workshop.
💃🏾🎶 Children and families enjoyed an energetic afternoon with the Keepers of the Culture Performing Arts Company featuring live African drumming, dynamic dances, call-and-response songs, and inspiring stories from Dr. Hanan Hameen, Ed.D. celebrating African and African American history, culture, and the arts.
❤️ Thank you to everyone who joined us, the Keepers of the Culture Performing Arts Company and Dr. Hameen! Due to inclement weather this special program was rescheduled from Black History Month in February to May.
❤️ Tomorrow, Wed. 5/6, 7pm at Perrot Library, join us for Blood Pressure 101: Know Your Numbers.
🩺 In recognition of National High Blood Pressure Education Month, join registered nurse Marybeth Vergas, RN, to learn what blood pressure numbers mean, why they matter, and simple everyday habits that can help prevent and manage high blood pressure.
💪 Complimentary blood pressure screenings will be offered following the talk. Register for this free program here: /event/16303667

📚Thank you to author Eileen Flood O’Connor and Afton Fraser for their recent heartfelt conversation at Perrot Library about Eileen’s book “Eating Pizza Backwards, and Other Adventures.”
✨Guests enjoyed a moving discussion about Eileen’s honest, humorous, and deeply touching reflections on raising a daughter on the autism spectrum and the ways her family’s perspective on life has been transformed through love, resilience, and gratitude.
💙 We’re grateful to Eileen and Afton for sharing such thoughtful insights and meaningful stories with us, as well as to Kathy and Chris McCormick for organizing the event and to everyone who attended.
