A total work of art.
At Museum House, a 33-story mixed-use residential tower in Seattle, art becomes part of the architecture itself. Inspired by the neighboring @fryeartmuseum , the tower’s kinetic facade features perforated metal screens printed with works from the museum’s founding collection. Controlled by residents, the screens provide shade, privacy, and thermal regulation while creating an ever-changing composition throughout the day. At night, the building glows “like a lantern on the hill.”
The project is composed of two diverging towers connected by a sky bridge, with a seismic strategy informed by bridge engineering. At street level, spaces for restaurants, galleries, and boutiques are envisioned to further connect the project to the surrounding neighborhood and its growing creative culture.

Public art creates spaces where people can connect—with one another, with culture, and with their communities.
Kaleidoscope Garden transforms the visual wonder of looking through a kaleidoscope into a communal, immersive experience. Designed by Katherine Chin and Sarah Brophy in our Boston studio, the installation invites guests of all ages into a vibrant field of color, complete with spaces for concessions, lawn games, and gathering.
Dancing Dragon, an interactive installation designed and fabricated by Katherine Chin and Parke MacDowell, draws inspiration from the traditional Chinese dragon dance. Shaped with input from Boston’s Chinatown residents, it became a vibrant symbol of shared identity and unity, transforming the public realm into a place of connection.
“Art has the power to connect people in ways that are unexpected and allow them to see ordinary things in a different light,” Katherine says.

Set above one of Seattle’s busiest light rail stations, this 13-story, 260,000-square-foot building is more than an office tower—it’s a dynamic intersection of transit, architecture, and urban life. Rising along Brooklyn Avenue, it seamlessly integrates with the station below, serving as both a gateway to the @uofwa and a defining piece of the district’s evolving identity.

The @universityofhouston RAD Center is the campus’s first mass timber building, designed to foster a sense of welcome and well-being. It brings together healthy dining options, art, social connection, and a strong relationship to nature to support holistic student life.
@accdistrict Highland Campus Phase II transforms the former Highland Mall into a dynamic academic environment. It brings together disciplines such as culinary arts, nursing and health sciences, animation, filmmaking, architecture, engineering, music production, and sound design in one integrated campus.
Oak Lawn Place is an 84-unit affordable senior housing community in Dallas that addresses the growing need for care and services for the aging LGBTQ population. It is located within walking distance of public transit and is designed to support accessibility, dignity, and long-term community connection.
@utswmedcenter at RedBird reimagines a former retail destination as one of UT Southwestern’s largest outpatient centers. It converts underutilized space into a prevention and screening gateway that expands access to essential care for communities with the greatest need.
"These are long arcs of positive transformation,” says Ron Stelmarski, Design Director of our Dallas studio. “This is the work we want to be doing across Texas and beyond, and we're incredibly proud."

For Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting trauma-informed design and the role the built environment plays in supporting mental health.
It starts with safety. We look at how people experience a space and identify what may feel overwhelming, confusing, or out of their control. Then we design to reduce stress, prevent escalation, and support both patients and staff. From biophilic design and thoughtful materiality to areas of refuge and positive distraction, these strategies work together to support well-being, dignity, and mental health.

Architecture is at its best when it responds to its context.
At the Marriott Diplomatic Quarter Hotel in Riyadh, the design draws from the region’s layered geological strata, shaping both form and experience. Organized around a protected internal microclimate, the building creates an inner oasis, offering relief from the city’s arid conditions. Water features and evaporative cooling temper outdoor spaces, while strategic massing, tree canopies, and a climate-responsive facade with sun-shading louvers reduce heat gain and foster shaded, comfortable environments year-round.
The guest experience unfolds as a journey through the local landscape. Arrival begins in a reception space defined by natural materials, grounding guests in a clear sense of place. From there, pathways to the guest rooms echo the region’s wadis, with textures and tones drawn from the surrounding terrain. The sequence culminates in the quiet retreat of each suite.
"Drawn from local context, the design reconciles architecture and landscape into a grounded sense of place, woven seamlessly into the urban fabric of the Diplomatic Quarter,” says Yousef Awaad, our Middle East Associate Director.

Designed for efficiency, resilience, and comfort, the new BCIT Tall Timber Student Housing project in Burnaby, British Columbia provides 469 beds, along with shared kitchens, lounges, study rooms, and flexible multipurpose spaces. The project meets BC Energy Step Code 4 and is the first campus building to achieve the Canadian Green Building Council’s (@cagbc ) Zero Carbon Building – Design Standard™ certification.

This 1990s mall was a product of its time: low ceilings, limited daylight, and little to distinguish it in Beijing’s competitive retail market. Today, it feels entirely different: brighter, more open, and built around a stronger mix of offices and retail.
A new glazed facade replaced the original heavy shell, flooding the interior with daylight and opening the center to the street. At the heart of the building, a central atrium anchored by an installation from French artist @charlespetillon provides a focal point for the space. A social stair encourages people to linger and connects the main floor to a lower level featuring dining and a premium grocery store. Flexible spaces throughout the center support a rotation of events and exhibitions, ensuring the building stays active throughout the day.
The project was fully leased upon its 2018 opening, successfully anticipating the demand for high-quality, mixed-use environments. Its performance also earned LEED Gold certification and a 5 million RMB incentive from the Beijing Municipal Government for exemplary low-carbon design.
