Hummingbirds use their long tongue to capture calorie-dense nectar as their primary food source. They need a lot of calories to sustain themselves and they need to digest it quickly. If a human were to consume the equivalent amount, they would need to consume about 155,000 calories a day!
This incredible capture by @leewong.john is part of the show “The Big Picture” even though this isn’t a large print at all. We selected it to showcase the beauty, flight and small details from the hummingbirds that John LeeWong has masterfully captured as part of his bird photography series. Before Kodak in 1888, most photography was done by trained professionals often in studio. Going to a studio was an intentional act of putting your best self forward. Today, we bring that same ethos alive with historically period cameras, aesthetics, and film. You can select to be photographed with 1890s Rochester dry plate cameras, 1920s roll film, 1940s 4x5, 1960s Rolleiflexs, 1980s 35mm, or modern mirrorless and other digital cameras at our location.
