It’s the first Polish opera premiere in Berlin in over 50 years! Karol Szymanowski’s masterpiece, "Król Roger", will be conducted by @james.gaffigan and directed by @evgeny1838 , featuring an absolutely stellar cast — all at my home opera house! ♥️
I couldn’t wish for a better way to celebrate my 5th season with this incredibly inclusive, courageous, and beautiful company. I’m immensely grateful to the Komische Oper’s leadership for this opportunity and for trusting me with this role. I cannot express how much this means to me as a Polish opera singer.

After five different productions and countless performances together over the past four seasons, we finally made our long-awaited role debuts as Tatiana and Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece at our home theater, @komischeoperberlin , in the most beautiful production by #BarrieKosky, revived by the wonderful Werner Sauer, with @james.gaffigan leading an extraordinary orchestra and choir.

Sopranistin @pennysofroniadou aus dem Ensemble der @komischeoperberlin liebt sie – und das Publikum auch: die Bärenkugel von Sawade als »Praline danach«. Die gibt es nach jeder Vorstellung am Ausgang (solange der Vorrat reicht😊).
»Vor dem Auftritt ist Schokolade für mich als Opernsängerin tabu – das ist nicht gut für die Stimme. Aber nach der Aufführung habe ich umso mehr Lust darauf.« erzählt Penny.
Da sind sich also alle einig: Eine leckere Bärenkugel gefüllt mit Mandel-Nougat und knusprigen Keksstücken ist der perfekte Abschluss nach einem genussvollen Opernabend.
