Sisu is an ongoing series of twelve narrative mixed-media works exploring resilience, endurance, and quiet strength.
Named after the Finnish word for stoic determination in the face of extreme adversity, the series honours women whose lives and words speak of courage and perseverance — including Frida Kahlo, Maya Angelou, and Malala Yousafzai. Their voices are embedded in the work through text and quotation, resonating with my own lived experience.
Each piece is also a landscape: an interpretation of real places, many drawn from the Peak District, where memory, atmosphere, and emotion are translated into layered visual narratives.
The Spring Arts Trail at the Whitsun Bank Holiday includes many artists all over Derbyshire,

@highpeakopenstudios with 34 venues, and many more groups and venues around the county. A wonderful long weekend to explore the arts and meet the artists.
